Re: MAR FIRST Springside Chestnut Hill District Competition

Wow, that one was heck of an event! One of the most fierce and dramatic elimination tournaments I've seen in a long time. With only 34 teams, I was blown away by how competitive every alliance managed to be.

Does anyone know if the webstream was archived, or if a team filmed every match?

Some thanks and congrats to give out:

357 - Thanks for helping us out with scouting through the entire weekend. Your system was certainly very impressive, and I know our scouts learned a lot about what can be accomplished. You saved us a great deal of heartburn!

1218 - Thanks for hosting. It was a great venue and a great event. You guys were absolutely incredible on and off the field all weekend.

225/316/1495 - You guys were a truly amazing alliance. It was a pity we couldn't get a match against each other with both alliances at full strength, but I have no doubt whatsoever the best alliance in the tournament ended up as the victors. 225, you guys were incredibly friendly and forthcoming all weekend, and I'm glad to see your resurgence has continued. 1495, it's awesome to see how much you improved after Hatboro-Horsham. Your defense was top notch.

4373 & 3974 - It was a pleasure working with both of you during the eliminations. You were as supportive and easy to work with as could be imagined. Both of your teams are going to go far in the coming years. Hope we can work together again.

Last and certainly not least, 4342. Sending a student representative with our alliance's to the question box to clarify the scoring error in QF1-3 is one of the most tremendous displays of gracious professionalism I have ever seen. You guys truly get what this program is all about. We cannot thank you enough for your outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field. Our matches with and against you all weekend were hard fought and exciting.

Re: MAR FIRST Springside Chestnut Hill District Competition

Wow, what an event--well-run and executed as always. Thank you for all the MAR personnel and volunteers for making it happen!

It's always interesting playing under scorched earth--it made for some very even and dramatic elimination matches that were really anyone's game. To 1218, 357, 2539, 4373, 3974, 1712, 2234, 365, and 2016--those were some of the most complex elimination matches I have ever played. We were trying to pull everything we had just to keep everyone operating properly, let alone managing the strategy.

Big thanks to 365 and 2016 for offering your chain brakes to us after we broke a chain in SF 1-1. We barely had it fixed by SF 1-3. Also thanks to Sean and the rest of 1712 for your GP--really sad that your robot was not at full strength for our final semifinal match.

To 1218, 11 and 222 -- I hope we get a chance to play in eliminations with each of you sometime

Finally, thanks to 316 and 1495 for rounding out our alliance. We are good friends with 316 and 1495 was on our alliance at Chestnut Hill last year, but these teams are no joke--we couldn't have won without either of them.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Lenape!
