Apple Pi 2067 - Cap'n Hook

Team 2067 Apple Pi presents its 2014 robot, Cap'n Hook

Reveal Video
Alternate Link (works better on mobile devices)

This robot is equipped with swerve drive, which we have been developing for 2 years.

(wheels have been replaced with these HiGrip wheels, as we kept losing the treads on the other ones)

Features include:
--4 independent wheel swerve drive- 4 CIMs for drive, 4 Andymark 9015 motors on VersaPlanetary gearboxes for steering
--Hook shaped catapult (hence Cap'n Hook) powered by surgical tubing with a high release point to avoid blocking. Can shoot from 20 ft - 5 ft (working on consistency). Catapult is reset by a huge pneumatic cylinder on the front
--Two shoot modes, one for long shots (10 - 20 ft), one for trussing and short shots (5 -10 ft). Short shot mode is actuated by a piston which shortens the hard stop for the catapult
--Excellent trussing capability to human player
--Horizontal roller harvester powered by 1 RS550, quick intake, passing, and low goal scoring
--Good ability to inbound from human player, and possibly truss catch

We performed well at Groton district event, becoming the alliance 3 captain and making it to the semifinals with 175 and 121, both great partners.
Looking forward to playing with the other NE FIRST teams at Southington this week, and next week at Hartford.

Also, thanks to 195 for letting us use their practice field, where much of this footage was taken.

Re: Apple Pi 2067 - Cap'n Hook

Having seen it compete in Groton, I can say that swerve drive is astounding. Hooky was zigging and zagging across the field. A very agile machine.
