It has been working beautifully. We can get any trajectory we want and have the shot sequences programed to the game controller.
I'd sure be interested in seeing the code for pulsing the solenoids. Any chance of sending me a copy via pm? I'm sure that if I see it I'll slap my head and wonder why we didn't think of that. I think I can count the number of times you guys missed a shot at the AZ regional on two fingers.
Congratulations again on your win. I think that makes four in a row for 842.

We are moving to a pneumatic launcher from a motor driven one. We liked the motor driven launcher but couldn't replicate practice field results on the competition field. Hopefully we won't have the problem with the pneumatic launcher.

Video of us testing the launcher at Texas Torque World Headquarters.

Re: Who still thinks pneumatic catapults won't work for this game?

I was pretty skeptical about pneumatic launchers at the start of the season, and helped get it eliminated from the prototypes we would make. Well, we are now using a pneumatic catapult which works better than anything else we made. It all depends on the kind of hardware you use.

One advantage of the pneumatic catapult for our team, is it's utter simplicity. It has one fabricated moving part.

Yeah, out of all the bots I've seen so far I definitely think Spectrum's intake is the most effective. Those mecanum wheels seem to be doing wonders.

Great improvement!
Now I'm waiting to hear TT say they are using pneumatics as well as perfect their layup for Lone Star.

Re: Who still thinks pneumatic catapults won't work for this game?

Our first shooter prototyped was pneumatic and we stuck with it. Our team was responsible for scoring nearly all of the points in all of our matches, counting out one point goals pushed in by alliance members and maybe one shot you guys made in our match together? Regardless, during qualifying matches I think we only missed one or two shots in teleop throughout all our matches, we missed a few during elims when our driver was panicking a bit under the pressure but our robot performed extremely well.
If only our third robot hadn't fallen over in that second elim match or any number of any other things that happened, we could have been posing with you guys in that winners pic. Ah well, maybe next year, big congratulations to you guys, you had an awesome robot this year.

Re: Who still thinks pneumatic catapults won't work for this game?

FRC558 made the switch to a pneumatic catapult between our first two districts, we are so far very happy with the change and will be continuing to make improvements.
