Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

My team was honored to be selected for the Engineering Inspiration award the the Central Washington District Event yesterday. Unfortunately, we didn't perform very well at our first district event and don't have enough qualifying points for the robot to compete at the Pacific Northwest District Championship.

We can attend the District Championship and compete for the District Championship Engineering Inspiration award, but cannot compete with our robot.

Have any other teams been in a similar situation, and are there any "best practices" for non-competing teams?
