Re: Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

Definitely look at volunteering! Students can get involved in a variety of ways, and mentors and coaches can also look at thing like being a Robot Inspector to get a sense of all the different ways a robot can be built (and also how not to build one!).

Reach out to team 321 to ask how they prepared last year. They were in the same situation as you (EI winners invited to MAR Champs), and managed to win EI at MAR Champs to earn an invite to St. Louis.

Re: Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

Might be in the same spot and won't know until next Monday. If the robot doesn't make it we will most likely be sending a smaller contingency of our team. We really don't have much money left, and the district events have taken our kids out of school way more than they were ready for. (we have a few students who are taking several AP classes who really don't want to miss any more class time.) So, if the robot doesn't qualify we may be down a few students.

We have a number of students who are signed up as volunteers at the Portland event... Myself included.

You guys have a reputation for being awesome and volunteering at different events. :-) I can't wait to see you in Portland. Best of luck!

Edoga

Re: Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

With all of these sometimes serious and insanely competitive teams, we could definitely use some 2910 cheer in the house. Get the crowd going, convey some of that Jack In The Bot enthusiasm and SPIRIT!

Everyone should have a list of questions and goals, there are going to be so many great teams here, both on and off the field. We all have something to teach and a lot to learn. Make the most of that time!

Re: Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

Thanks for all of the great ideas everyone!

I don't think we'll be bringing the whole team (due to cost and missed school time), but we will be there to volunteer, cheer, and learn from other teams.

See you in Portland!

Re: Any recommendations for non-competing teams at District Championships?

The tin mints from Pennsylvania are in the same boat. If we are not asked to come because we are too low we plan to go, some of us will volunteer but keep our heads in the game and prep for our interview as much as possible while still enjoying ourselves. That's always an option.
