Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

Congratulations to the 2 alliances that made it to the finals. 5/6 robots are guaranteed to make it to Championships through winning FLR and through wildcard slots.

If Alliance #1 wins: 1507/378 earn through winning and 3015 earns through wild card

If Alliance #2 wins: 3015/3044 earn slots by winning and 1507 through wild card

I think you have an error there. 20 and 340 are the only teams that are already qualified for champs. So
If alliance #1 wins: There is one wildcard that would be passed to 3015.
If alliance #2 wins: There is one wildcard that would be passed to 1507.

3044 and 378 cannot make it to champs unless they are on the winning alliance

Sorry, you are correct. I had thought 1507 won Buckeye. My mistake.

Wow, that was a very impressive second finals match. Congratulations to 1507, 20, and 378 for racking up 260 points without any fouls. Also congrats to 20 for their second regional win of the season!

Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

What a crazy event!

Thanks to Teams 1507 and 378 for one of the coolest alliances I've ever seen. The "statue" pass between you two was so incredibly consistent and the fact that it worked out so well is a testament to both of your robots.
1507, you missed one high goal in all of eliminations. Your robot is incredible and I'm so happy you're able to attend championships this year!

Congratulations to Team 1511 on your Chairman's Award! After seeing how fantastic your team is all-around, I'm excited to see how you perform at championships and in future years. I know I was inspired by your continued spirit and gracious professionalism.

Congratulations to the finalists- Teams 3015, 340, and 3044.
3015- I'm so happy you guys are able to go to championships at this point. Your robot is one of the cooler robots I've seen, and your catapult seems to never miss shots during autonomous.
340- I'm glad you got to play two matches against us in finals. Your robot is so good and in some matches on Friday you looked unstoppable! Your team is also extremely professional and gracious at all times!
3044- You guys built an awesome robot, but somehow flew under the radar to the second round again! I expect big and bright things from you in the coming years.

Speaking of up-and-comers at FLR, how about the Quality Award winners, team 2791, Shaker! You guys made a real comeback from TVR, showing off your skills in eliminations so much so that you got picked by Daisy! I hope we get to work with you guys next year. We'll finally get to #finishthejob together!

And speaking of Daisy, wow did 341 have an awesome robot at FLR. Those semifinals matches felt like finals matches when you had to play against Daisy! I thought you guys had the best robot at the event, and I wish you luck at MARCMP (if you attend) and definitely at Champs in a few weekends. Maybe we'll finally get to play WITH you instead of against you!

Lastly I want to give a shout-out to some incredible rookies. Team 5254 had arguably the best inbounder at the event. I think everyone can agree that their last-second score in Quarters 2-1 to beat the 341 alliance was absolutely incredible and one of the highlights of the event.

Good luck to 1507, 378, 340, 3015, 1511, 1592, 1126, 341, 191, and 639 at the championship event!

Thank you to all of the teams that competed at FLR! It was an amazing and tough competition, with some of the best bots that I have seen! Thank you to 3015 and 340 for being amazing alliance partners, it really was great working with both of you throughout the competition!

Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

What a great event the 10th FLR turned out to be.

Congrats to 1511 on winning the Chairman's award. It couldn't have gone to a more deserving team. You guys were great when we were planing our elimination alliance. Too bad for that monkey wrench, thanks for being so gracious and understanding when things changed. Can't wait to see you guys at Championship. Rolling Thunder is a class act and it was our pleasure to work with you. You have made 340 a better team.

Thanks to 3015 and 3044 for making up such a great alliance. I couldn't believe it when you guys pulled off the upset in the first round of the finals in a 2 vs 3 match. I was shocked we were able to get our main drive shaft replaced in the short time we had. That FLR winners banner will have to wait one more year. 3015 thanks for picking us. You guys will make a tough team to knock down at champs.

1507, 20, and 378. What an amazing alliance you made. The statue pass was amazing. You guys showed grace and everything FIRST is all about in the finals. Thanks. I hope to see you on Einstein.

Josh and Eric, you made a great team on the mic's. The play of the weekend had to go to Josh running play-by-play and deflecting a ball from the scorer's table at the same time.

Congrats to 4930 for winning their 2nd Rookie-All-Star Award of the season. You have a great robot and a solid foundation. I look forward to competing with you for many years to come.

My favorite moment of the weekend came on Friday afternoon when Justin Montois won the Woodie Flowers Award. You are an inspiration and have kept me going more times than I can count. You have made our team better in ways that will be in place for years to come.

For those of you counting, either a B+L or Xerox team has been in the finals every year of the event. 1126 has been to the finals 5 times with 1 win, and 340 has made it there 5 times with 0 wins. and yet, 1507 has won the event 3 times ( every time beating a 340 alliance) and 174 won it 3 straight times.

With the exception of 1 year, either 1511 or 340 has taken home the Chairman's award and 5 of the 10 EI's at FLR.

Not a bad 10 years FLR.

Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

It was a great 10-year event! The depth of field was impressive, and the enthusiasm unbeatable.

Thanks so much to the volunteers--all of 'em! We have the best-run regional in FRC, from inspectors to reset crew to pit admin to emcees to queueing staff to all the behind-the-scenes volunteers that make it run so well.

Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

Team 378 was honored to be part of the 1507/20 alliance. You guys thought outside the box and came up with a statue pass to keep the ball off the floor saving valuable time.

I echo Kevin's comments on the event. The excitement and enthusiasm throughout the event was incredible. I follow 1511 on FB and they are very active, very deserving. There are many role model teams at FLR and the Rochester area has done a fantastic job promoting and growing FIRST.

340 - what a sight - swapping parts by smartphone light - should be a new Meatloaf song

See you in St. Louis and good luck!!

Re: Fingerlakes Regional:2014

FLR and the Rochester area teams have a great history and this was a great celebration of the 10th anniversary.

It was a great day for our Erie-Niagara teams too. For those who don't remember, the Circuit Stompers, 378, mentored and spun off a rookie team in 2005 just in time for the inaugural FLR. That team? The Warlocks, 1507.

The Warlocks won Rookie All Star and High Seed that year and nearly won the regional but for the legendary tipping tetras at the last second.

This year, we had a new rookie team, mentored by The Warlocks, and they came in and did very well, bringing home another Rookie all Star: The Electric Mayhem, 4930, from Nichols School in Buffalo.

I was really impressed with their progress through the past two weekends. They seemed to pull a new trick out of their bag every match and by the end had a very effective robot and drive team.

After build season ends, I step back and leave the team to others, while I sit back and enjoy the show, as well as being free to volunteer at the events. That doesn't mean I'm not proud of The Warlocks. I am. They worked hard for this season.

But I'm also very proud of all the teams. Teams I've met in the pits. Teams I've gotten to know over the past 10 years of FLR. Many who I see year after year and will see next year again, with any luck.

The quality of the teams and their robots this year was amazing. Every one in the final rounds could have been the winner. And I would have cheered every one on and been satisfied with the competition any way it came out. You were all that good. You are all winners for being there in some way. Playing against you all made team 1507 play better. We had to. You have a stake in our team's performance by setting a high bar to reach.

I look forward to seeing many of you at Championships and will see you next year again at FLR.

Video of quarter final 2 match 2

Does anyone have video of quarter final 2 match 2 (4930,341,2791 vs. 2809,5254,191)? I am trying to figure out how our robot got pierced so that we can build better armor for our next competition this weekend. (Our battery and solenoid manifold were ripped right out of the middle of the robot). If you could upload to youtube and post a link here it would be most appreciated! This game seems to be particularly brutal and we want to be better prepared.

Thanks!

I really want to see quarter 2-1. Our alliance had a comeback from like 30 points down in auto to win by 1 point in the final seconds. It was one of 5254's best matches of the season.

Team 341 should have both of these matches on tape. I'll try to get them up as soon as possible, but it might be a few days before I am able to get them off our camera.
