4'' Plaction on AM14U?

Has anyone swapped the 4'' HiGrip KOP wheels with 4'' plaction? If so, how did you account for the difference in width of the wheels? We're considering doing this on our robot, but are unsure if the plaction wheels (which are wider) will actually fit for the center wheel, which has two pulleys on it with little/no clearance on either side.

How much wider are they? You could chuck em up in a lathe and skinny them up a little

Re: 4'' Plaction on AM14U?

They should work. AM sells a plaction upgrade kit and it doesn't include wider churros. You might need to make new spacers though.

Re: 4'' Plaction on AM14U?

It's really hard to do. We ended cutting down the center wheels and created our own custom spacers.

What do you mean by cutting down your center wheel? How much did you have to take off?

I want to say we removed about 1/2" equally from each side of the wheel. We did not need to do this for the outer wheels because we just adjusted the spacers.

The red part in the picture is what we took off.

ItsElectronic is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: 4'' Plaction on AM14U?

Its quite do-able. We had to shave down the wheels, on a lathe, to where the pulleys were nearly flush to the wheel and cut down the hex spacer for the center wheel to where the pulley was nearly flush with the outer plates.
