Re: Multi-Ball Autonomous Club

It seemed like perfect autonomous was really rare, though. I watched the finals and I think it was 70-70 coming out of auto both matches (correct me if I'm wrong). Was rush's 2 ball supposed to be 2 in hot? I know at SMR we had issues with the hot target trigger actuating down with enough force to cause the target to oscillate, which caused our robot to see a hot goal when it wasn't really there. Were you guys also deathly afraid of a dead albatross (missed autonomous balls)?

They had a one hot and one not. Anyone correct me if I am wrong but I believe 1718 was the only team with a 2 ball auto with both hot.

Our 2-ball is currently 1 hot, 1 not hot..something we're working on for worlds with improved vision code and timing. We decided to do the 1 2ball, 1 1ball just for accuracy reasons. 314 had a great auton shot % but we knew our 2 ball was 100% and didn't want to have any risk in missing a shot..ever. If they had hot goal detection we would have likely taken the small risk for the the additional 5 points each match. So no, we weren't concerned about a missed shot much.

You are correct, 1718 decided not to use it in elims due to reliability though. (5 pts is not worth the risk of losing 15 and precious time)

C.O.R.E. 2062 is in the club. We had 100% 2 ball auto at Midwest during qualifiers up to semi's when we kept bands stretched too long.

Re: Multi-Ball Autonomous Club

1918 has been using a two ball auto since our first competition. It has worked great and has only missed 2 or three times during our four competitions so far this season. When the hot goal timing on the field is correct, one of the two is in the hot goal. By the time we got to MSC the need to do more than a one ball auto was all but gone, though we did use is a couple of times there.

Re: Multi-Ball Autonomous Club

Team 1810 has completed our two ball autonomous after perfecting it and our pickup mechanisms at the Arkansas Regional. I know we have video footage of it somewhere, we had ours running as well as catching videos running in our pit. Titanium, 1986, had two ball I know. At Arkansas Bomb Squad also has a well developed 2 ball as well as a work in progress on three ball, but one of the balls would end up going over the goals entirely.

Re: Multi-Ball Autonomous Club

Found this example of some 2 ball autonomous action at Queen City Regional. This is the only time 16 missed the 2nd shot but it is still quite amazing. We (3494) also used our 2 ball auto. Congratulations to 16, 447, and 2665 for coming out on top in the end. Best of luck at the Championships! Thank you to 868 and 3506 for a great Saturday afternoon!

and another where 16 makes both but we miss one.

Add Sparky 384 to the list, I know the saying just because it worked in the shop doesn't mean it works at the regional - after some tweaking it works. We will continue to work on it at Champs.

4488 has working 1 ball and 2 ball hot routines, and a working 3 ball routine.

The 2 Ball Hot
The 3 Ball

It was actually developed earlier, but was inconsistent. We used it at Bridgewater with some success. At MAR Champs we were much better. It was a 1 hot 1 cold autonomous.

I would agree with previous posts, 2590 is the best autonomous in MAR.

We've been running 2-ball both hot since our first event. Our first event we were hit and miss on hot goal detection since our delay for determining the hot goal wasn't dialed in yet. Since the start of Waterford we've only misidentified the hot goal twice: once when our pit crew covered the camera lens with a tie wrap (oops) and on Saturday at MSC when the hot goal didn't illuminate until 1.5 sec into autonomous.
