Re: Archimedes 2014!
All I can say about this division is wow. A lot of people were saying before champs that Archimedes looked a lot weaker then the others but the elims in Archimedes were easily the closest and most exciting elims that i have ever watched in my first career. I felt that every one of the 8 alliances had a chance at winning the division. Congrats to all the award winners especially 27 on their chairman's win, hope you guys come back to duluth it was really fun competing with you. Also congrats to 2158 on your EI. Finally thanks to 399 and 2056 for inviting us to join your alliance, and congrats to 1625, 2590, 1477, and 3567 on their division win.

Re: Archimedes 2014!
If you consider high losing scores to be an indication of tough matches, consider this:
Of the 9785 matches that were played in 2014, the six highest "unpenalized" losing scores occurred during eliminations on Archimedes: 265: SF 1-1, 1477/2590/1625 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 285 to 315) 260: QF 1-3, 399/2056/2175 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 260 to 315) 256: QF 1-1, 399/2056/2175 to 51/2485/1918 (Raw score 256 to 390) 253: SF 1-1, 27/33/175 to 1477/2590/1625 (Raw score 273 to 285) 251: SF 1-3, 51/2485/1918 to 1477/2590/1625 to (Raw score 251 to 285) 245: SF 1-2, 51/2485/1918 to 1477/2590/1625 to (Raw score 245 to 265) (Data derived from a spreadsheet that "Ether" posted in the "High Score 2014" thread showing match data for all competitions all season long. In F-1 at Waterford District, 1718/3098/3773 also put up 245 in their loss to 67/51/4994, so 51 was in 6 of the top 7) Last edited by Wayne TenBrink : 28-04-2014 at 06:24. Reason: added Waterford note, 6785 was 6875 |

Seriously, though. I think this was my favorite alliance at the championship. Watching the 1st seed get upset with the world highscore was a sight to see. |

Re: Archimedes 2014!
I just wanna give a special shout out to 3467 Windham Windup for being a super awesome 4th bot to pick up. Although their robot never touched the carpet throughout elims and on Einstein, they were one of the best pit crews I've personally ever had the opportunity to work with! They were ready and willing to help contribute to the alliance in any way possible. They were an essential key to success for the 5th seeded alliance, and I want to extend my personal thanks to them as well as 2590 and 1477 for a great weekend!

Re: Archimedes 2014!
Wow - what a great event. Everyone on our team had a great time and our students came away with an increased passion for FIRST. Inspiration ran amok which is probably the best indicator of a great event.
A huge thanks to 2485, 1918, and 781 for being such great alliance partners. Those matches were a lot of fun. We couldn't ask for better partners, and they were an even better group of people to work with. I'm sorry we never got 781 in a match, but those guys did a lot to help contribute. They help a lot with keeping strategy on track, and they were great with putting an extra coach in the box - that was very valuable. Congratulations to the Archimedes winners. Getting knocked out is always a little easier if you get knocked out by the champs, and you guys were very worthy champs. Hopefully we'll be able to see everyone at IRI. |

Re: Archimedes 2014!
Unfortunately after losing early in Curie quarterfinals, I had a chance to walk over to Archimedes to catch their semifinals and finals matches. Those matches truly exemplify how this game should be played and they were definitely played at the highest levels! ..absolutely incredible scores as well..

Re: Archimedes 2014!
I'd like to thank all of the Archimedes teams for their outstanding cooperation during the compressed inspection process at CMP. As you know, we were able to resolve all 100 robots before match play began on Thursday morning. I appreciate the positive attitude and understanding of the very few that had to make some changes. My hope for future years is that inspection will be a positive experience for everyone. I’m proud of each and every one of you and I hope I’ll be given the opportunity to serve at future events.

Re: Archimedes 2014!
Hey, does anyone know where we can find some qualification matches for Archimedes? Warren Robotics posted a few videos but it has a lot of missing matches that 781 wants for stuff like IRI applications.

Re: Archimedes 2014!
I can contact the person who did the recordings during school tomorrow for you... He told us he was in the process of uploading videos. Yet, due to the lack of videos actually being uploaded I'm not so sure on that one haha.
Any QM's you are looking for specifically? I can try to get him to prioritize ones for you. |
