Construction of the FIRST Community Center

Construction of the FIRST Community Center at Kettering University is underway! This center, the first-ever FIRST center located on a college campus, will be ready for the 2015 FIRST Robotics Competition season.

The new center will house 8 FIRST teams (new or existing). Also it will include a machine shop and building/practicing areas for the teams. With future expansion for elementary and middle school programs and a second floor for 8 more FRC teams.

Kettering University has been one of the most gracious venues in FiM history. It has held districts events since the first district season of 2009 and have held the Kettering Kickoff off-season event since 1999.

My only question is this: Why hasn't this been done sooner?
Such a wonderful plan, and I truly hope that this sort of idea spreads faster than wildfire
Centers like this could very easily help FIRST grow so much faster than it already is; it's just what we (the FIRST community) need

As a current high school senior that will be attending Kettering, I can't wait to see this center when it's completed
