SE Michigan team needs lead engineering mentor
Hi CD community,
After 6 years of coaching and mentoring team 2834, I need a break. I am burnt out. I am going to take a sabbatical leave for 3 whole months in the summer and then decide what to do next year. I am looking for someone who would be interested in taking over from me as lead engineering mentor. If you are interested or know of somebody who would be perfect for the job, please email or PM me. I would be glad to sit down and tell you more about the opportunity. In case you are wondering, the Bloomfield Girls Robotics Competition will continue with or without me. It is tentatively scheduled for November 1st this year. We have something exciting planned. |

Re: SE Michigan team needs lead engineering mentor
Ed,
I hear you. There are way too many hours consumed and way too many obligations missed to be a mentor for FIRST. The worst part of being a lead mentor is the that the buck has to stop with you. Moreover, it is very difficult to get others, especially some parents to understand the gravity of what being a FIRST team means, and what sacrifices a mentor goes through. I, too, am so looking for a summer break with three months off and re-evaluate my position in the Fall. Good Luck and thank you for all the wonderful things you have done. |

It is nice to take a break. I feel better already after only a week of reduced involvement. I will still be around to help out in some way, but I know I am not coming back as lead engineering mentor, which is why the team is looking for somebody to replace me in that role. |
