Missouri State Rankings (2014)

While Missouri does not currently have a state championship, I took a peek through Joe Ross's Week 6 world district ranking to see which Missouri teams might have been invited to a state championship event. 32 teams would make a nice little event, and would comprise just under half of the available teams in Missouri.

Made a similar list last year.

Code:

Interesting to note that:
* All of the top 12 teams on this list play more than 1 regional event.
* 9 out of that top 12 qualified for champs under the current system.
* 14 Missouri teams played at Champs in total.
* 1985 (3rd in points), and 1987 (10th in points) did not qualify for championship play in spite of fantastic seasons.

Re: Missouri State Rankings (2014)

Thanks for the post, Aaron. I always enjoy checking out the other teams around Missouri and I am always impressed by what a high quality group of teams we have.

If you include the broader region to include Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Illinois, FIRST has a really strong presence in the middle part of the country. One could make a case for a Heart of America district. After the idea last summer and fall about a hybrid district idea in KC fell apart, I haven't heard much about the move to districts here. Still, I don't think it will be too many more years until we go to some sort of district model in Missouri and/or the region.

Anybody heard any word about if they are keeping the same venue for the KC regional next year?

Also, glad to see that St. Louis is going to have an off season event. Very cool!

You guys and any of the other Kansas City area teams are more than welcome to come out and compete! We'd love to have you make the trip.

This is really awesome data, thanks for putting it together. Happy to see our team just made the cut for the top 32, we hope to be higher than that next year after making some leaps & bounds in our 3rd year.
