Re: Best Reveal Videos

I absolutely loved 33's robot reveal video this year, for a variety of reasons-- excellent song choice, some good syncing, and an excellent robot.

I'd say the all time best for me though is still Robonaut's 2013-- the video that, at least for me, proved that robot reveal videos could be something other than dubstep laden dropfests or classic rock swagger. To this day, even though I dislike the song, I still get a smile on my face when I hear "Can't Hold Us" on the radio or at a party. The video was just that darn good. There was a genuine artistry that I don't think many reveal videos have that makes it unforgettable for me.

I really enjoyed 610's reveal video this year. The musicality and the amount of work they put into a 3 minute video is absolutely astounding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USqCQIQbtLk

Re: Best Reveal Videos

624's reveal video for this season was really good. Pretty cool song mashup, and I love when the robot rolls out all slow. Although I do have to agree that 118 from 2013 was probably the best of all time.

Re: Best Reveal Videos

2004: Wildstang Encore: Great choice of music, epic articulated-bump-climbing swerve, and cool shot of robot falling down. **Don't think it was a reveal video though.

2008: Robonauts. They somehow had a turreted swerve drive with an insane shooter and a functional intake after only 3 weeks of build.

2008: Robowranglers Tumbleweed: 3 Wheel, 6 Motor Swerve, on a 9 sided frame.

2009: Robonauts, Pacman was kind of cool. The game wasn't.

2010: Robonauts, 3 week robot that flew over the bump, kicked the ball hard, and had an awesome eagle thing on the side. Also, it had the best clip I've ever seen: http://youtu.be/yqVVCRmXdiE?t=1m39s (at 1:39).

2011: Robonauts. End of build video with human player throws across the entire field. Fast elevator with cool music.

*Reveals become more popular now
2012: Robonauts. Bridge balancer
Wildstang. Ball camera
179. Unique design that started the "trolling" arguments

2013: Robonauts- Cool climber, robot that does everything, helicopter gets hit with frisbee
Cheesy Poofs: Insanely fast terrifying computer controlled swinging climber.

**Reveals are way too popular now.
2014:
Cheesy Poofs: Two perfectly symmetrical powerdercoated robots score max points in autonomous mode filmed by quadcopter.
Robonauts: Good song choice

Re: Best Reveal Videos

My favorite would have to be the thunderchickens in 2013. Excellent cinematography, wonderful background noise, and just hints at the features of the robot without revealing too much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmHIQgQZXj0

I love seeing threads like this, basically costs me an hour of my life, because I have to watch old reveal videos, but it is so worth it.

In addition to those already shared, one of my favorite videos from this season was this video by Wave Robotics. Awesome music, awesome robot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwtabB9_04k
