Getting to know FRC in Washington!

Hey guys, my name is John Bottenberg and I'm new here. New to the Seattle area anyway...

I recently took a job at good ol' Microsoft and have had to uproot myself from the great state of Michigan. One of the many glorious things I've heard about the exotic land of the Pacific Northwest is that, much like the Great Lakes State, it has a thriving FRC community!

So yeah, at this point I just want to know more. I really like what FIRST and FRC have to offer. I was a programmer on Team 67 in high school and a mentor on Team 3322 in college. I guess I don't think stopping now is exactly a good idea.

Are there any teams around the Redmond area that need mentorship? I have experience mentoring a team in programming, electrical, scouting, and that sort of stuff. As far as programming goes, I know a lot of the intricacies about using C++ or LabVIEW to program robots. However, I'm not exactly sure about joining a team just yet.

I also want to get involved with the volunteering aspect of FIRST - I know that moving to the district system can be tough because of the amount of work that needs to be done at each district.

And at the very least, I'm good for a great, intriguing discussion about FIRST in Michigan and across the globe.

Cheers!

Re: Getting to know FRC in Washington!

First and foremost there is a team that meets at the Microsoft campus, X-Bot FRC team 488. Yeah if you look it up it will say that they are in Seattle which is why that isn't always the best way to find a team. The best way is to contact your FIRST Senior Mentor, who will be sending you a PM with his contact info shortly.
