FRC project without FIRST Labview

Hi,

I'm trying to open a FRC project on my home computer. The only issue is that I have labview for education instead of the special FIRST one.
Is there a way I can download the necessary files to successfully load the project?

Yes.
Let us know what you've tried (as far as finding those files) so far.

Re: FRC project without FIRST Labview

I have not attempted to open the files, but the other members of our team have told me that if I try, it will give me many different errors.
One of my team members has also told me that this is unavoidable, because they are two different NI products.
My main hope is to be able to load a project that was created using LabView for FRC on a computer running LabView for education.
How do I do this?

Re: FRC project without FIRST Labview

As you mention, those are two distinct products, but both are based a certain version of LV. So the compatibility depends on the precise versions.

If you try to load VIs saved in another LV-based product one of several things can happen.

1. The VIs may be from the future, meaning that they were saved in a newer version of LV, may contain newer language or UI elements and it will not attempt to load them.

2. The VIs are from the past or present, meaning that LV will load the VIs and will do its best to locate any libraries that the VIs may reference. It is always OK to cancel out and or ignore the dependent libraries. The VIs will load, they will be broken due to missing libraries, and you can then edit them, close them, or do whatever comes natural. If you are changing platforms or targets, LV may remap some of them, but some may be missing.

3. Occasionally, a project or folder will be a mix of the above two conditions.

Re: FRC project without FIRST Labview

Just download the FRC version of labVIEW.

I think Don was trying to get you to do that yourself. Seriously, just google "2014 frc labview".

Re: FRC project without FIRST Labview

I don't think the serial codes expire until kickoff. If you can't find yours it seems like you can leave the field blank for "evaluation mode". I don't know how long that will let you use labVIEW, but you can probably do that while you try to find your team's code.

Re: FRC project without FIRST Labview

This past year's LabVIEW license doesn't expire.
