Re: Exploding Weather Balloon
3061's "wholly owned subsidiary" physics club does these launches to fly middle and elementary schooler's experiments to space on a stabilizing frame.
http://vimeo.com/42751486#t=1m32s is a cool frame-by frame of ours. |

Re: Exploding Weather Balloon
Who knew so many FRC teams flew to the edge of space! This is a great off-season activity with programming, sensors, and just a lot of fun.
We are preparing for our 24th launch since 2007 -- http://dreams2space.wikispaces.com/ In 23 flights, we have never filmed the burst -- jealous! Want to get the students to fly a camera on a servo to look up once they are over 80,000 feet determined using a pressure sensor. |

Re: Exploding Weather Balloon
A few of the TORC's former Members have done this, but the team did not have a part of it.

Re: Exploding Weather Balloon
ALL super impressive.
I love how even though it looks like you're beyond the atmosphere there is still enough gas to fill the parachute. |
