Go to Post Belts are a fine way of transferring power in a robot. Like chains, gears, drive shafts, viscous couplings or any other means of transmission they require some care and attention on you're part. But no one said this robot stuff was going to be a cake walk. - Andy A. [more]

You may only have two of them on the competing robot.

Shifting gears

We have used the servos for changing gears in the drill transmissions. The servos don't have a lot of power, and if accidently 'stalled' for long periods of time, they will get hot and be damaged.

Servo use

Servos can also be used in a system that tracks the reflective tape on the goal, like the one seen at the kickoff

Question Anamatronic Puppet-head....legal?

Do you think we can use more servos for the purpose of building an anamatronic puppet for decoration only?

My thoughts are of a Mascot puppet-head, sort of bobbing it's head, looking around and doing other decorative things.....

What do you think? Legal?

Should be perfectly legal if they are non-functional decorations.

~Tom Fairchild~, who's mentors wanted to use servos to have "spinning eyeballs" on their robot last year...

You can also use a servo to energize a microswitch on the robot or as a...oops I shouldn't go there yet. In reality there are as many uses as your imagination can come up with and that are allowed under the rules.
