Re: WindRiver gone for 2015?

Any official updates from FIRST/WPI on this topic?

Re: WindRiver gone for 2015?

FWIW, C++ works well on the RoboRIO. There are copies of the WPILib for Linux and OS/X. There are also toolchains available from FIRST that are compatible w/ the RoboRIO and run on either Linux or OS/X. Since the RoboRIO runs ssh/sftp/scp on port 22, it's not hard to build code on Linux and target the RoboRIO. Not being a Mac guy, I can't answer for OS/X. But, I can't imagine that it would be too complicated.

However, the support, at this point, is focused on Windows.

As for keeping the cRIOs running, you just need the libraries and an x86 cross PPC GNU compiler. The WRS license is associated with the development environment (Eclipse plug-ins and GCC front end). If you're willing to switch to Linux as a development platform, then getting the cross tool chain is straightforward. I'm sure that someone could do it for Windoze, but with the changes to WinDoze 8.x, I'm not sure that it would be a lasting fix.

HTH,

Mike
