FRC Team 3408 WCD

I'm kinda new to posting so this may be the wrong forum to post on.

We have been designing this WCD over the fall. We think it's ready to fabricate, but if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. It uses mostly Vex pro parts. The gear boxes are the 2.92 spread with 13 tooth pinions. We are using 4" Andymark performance wheels. The gear boxes came in but had a ball shifting gear packaged instead of a dog shifting one, so we are waiting on that. The sprockets are 16 tooth.
Thanks ahead of time,
Wilder

Re: FRC Team 3408 WCD

Looks pretty good.

A few questions:

1. What is the battery box made of? How is the battery retained vertically?

2. How is the chain tensioned? I don't see any cams on the VersaBlocks, which is what one would normally use in such a drivetrain.

3. How are the axles retained? I can't tell from this picture.

4. How are the bumpers attached? The frame supporting them looks good, but the model doesn't show how the bumpers are attached to it.

I'm curious,

How do you plan to attach the bumper support pillars? There is a gusset going into the cut 2x1 extrusion, but I can't tell how you plan to attach that gusset to the 2x1.

+1 on the cams and other little things. Make sure you know where everything will go pre-season.
Also, you can use the printscreen button to take a better screenshot than with a camera.
It looks like you are going with 254-style bumper mounts, but I can't quite tell. You have a lot of options with the current configuration.

The battery Box is made of 1/8 inch aluminum and attached on the back side and bottom by T gussets and vertical L bracket. Its more of a place holder than anything though.

I will get you guys an updated model when i get home with the Cams in that. The bumper pillars are attached by L gussets in our newest model.

The axles on the inside are retained by retaining rings and are retained on the outside by 1/2" hex collar

We are undecided about the bumpers. There are a lot of options and were just not sure which one. We could do a similar system to 254 but it would be hard because the triangular pieces our cut out of tubing so it would be hard to attach them. One thing we have decided is that there will be one bumper that goes around the frame. We have had a hard time getting them to look good the other way. What do you guys think the best mounting system would be?

I have also attached the electrical layout we are thinking about. This is the first time i have designed an electrical board so i'd love your thoughts. The cutouts in the board were just a thought because we have a new water jet sponsor. We use Autodesk and i was unable to figure out how to do the latice pattern or we would have gone with that.
Thanks,
Wilder
