maximum # of game object

hey,
did anyone see a rule regarding a certain number of totes allowed on the robot simultanously? or can we carry as many totes / containers as we want?

I also didn't see anything in the manual about this.

Re: maximum # of game object

I was going to start a thread on this, but I went through the rules on the subject first.
I didn't find anything relating to the maximum number of game pieces a robot can have in its possession at any given time.

Re: maximum # of game object

I can't find anything in the rules limiting the number of totes you can carry. Since there's no xz size limit either, you're only limited by the robot weight and how much you can compact your mechanisms.

Re: maximum # of game object

Our team has a question about this at well. How many pieces of litter can a robot carry at once?

If there is no restriction stated, then no restriction exists.

But if you're not sure, feel free to ask Q&A.

Don't forget the height restriction and the TRANSPORT CONFIGURATION rule.

What does transport config have to do with it?

Re: maximum # of game object

I'm reasonably sure there is no such restriction this season, which would give teams free reign in this area for the first time in a while(definitely since 2011, if not since 2009).

I think an intended strategy in this game is the ability to make a stack, and then move it somewhere else. For example, it might be possible to create an assembly line of sorts, where one robot makes stacks of say, 3 totes, another moves these stacks to the scoring zone, and the third caps these stacks with recycle bins.

Re: maximum # of game object

you can carry as many totes as you want but make sure your robot can handle all the weight

Re: maximum # of game object

There doesn't seem to be a limit, but good luck on carrying multiple pool noodles and scoring each one when you can only score one per container. If you've focused a significant portion of your bot on the noodles, you are probably at a large disadvantage seeing as you are relying on the fact that your containers will be stacked.

Re: maximum # of game object

A valid strategy might be grabbing two totes side by side, assembling them in a multiple stack and scoring that, doubling your scoring per cycle. I think a major decision for most teams will be do they want to be a tote handler/stacker or a container bot. Hard to see how you can do both. The highest scoring alliances will have at least one of each kind of robot.

....and while thinking about your autonomous strategy is fine, first figure out what you are doing in teleop, build your robot, figure out what it ACTUALLY can do; then plan your autonomous strategy. If you try to build a robot that can do everything, be prepared to live with disappointment.

For rookies:

1 Build a base that moves.
2 Learn to drive it.
3 Add an attachment that can push one or more totes onto the step without knocking stuff down.
4 Add a drive forward 10 feet autonomous program
5 - Only then figure out how to build a grabber, stacker, hold a container up to get litter put into it.

Experienced teams have an advantage over rookies because they already know how to do 1-4.

Unless your design is capable of getting all the noodles and you are confident enough in driver skill that you can end with your robot and said noodles all neatly in the landfill
