I believe the no kinect/webcam was just for auto to prevent the innovative ways people have gotten around the auto rules in the past.

Because that was a legal way for human players to communicate with robots during the Hybrid Period of the 2008 game, FIRST Overdrive. It is not, however, legal this year.

It was the first thing that came to mind for an example, since they were legal in '08. I could have said R/C car remote, as well - same idea.
