Lightbulb Vision Request: Grey Crates

Is there any team able to access multiple gray crates? Our team would like to practice vision analysis when there are multiple crates together. Would someone who has multiple gray crates be able to take a few photos?

How do you plan on using vision with grey totes? When would you use vision outside of autonomous?

Re: Vision Request: Grey Crates

I imagine if your robot's goal during autonomous is to start getting grey totes you could use vision processing to tell if the short end or long side of the tote is facing you. But might be too hard to differentiate between totes when there are multiple

Re: Vision Request: Grey Crates

Even outside autonomous, it could be useful to have a vision system that automatically aligns your robot with the crate for pickup.

I'm not sure if we'll have time to develop such code, but if someone posts such code, I'd be really interested ..

But also -- doesn't nearly every veteran team have such crates? My understanding is that these are the same crates used to distribute the Kit of Parts for the past several years.

Only last year's tote is Orbis. It was not grey.

Re: Vision Request: Grey Crates

Yes and no. They tend to change up the color each each and I am not sure if we could even find some of our old that are grey. But we digress.

Correct. I intend on working with OpenCV to align to the crates if possible. I was interested in multiple crates because of the difficulty in determining them in any case. We have plenty of other multi colored crates to work with.

Re: Vision Request: Grey Crates

You can buy 2015 game pieces from AndyMark here. Most teams that want to do complex vision tracking will probably invest in some nice totes.

FYI they do not sell any "Grey Crates," but they do sell Gray Totes.

Thank you! I wasn't aware Andymark sold the totes.
