Re: Has anyone driven over the scoring platform with the KOP AM14U2?
Have you run the numbers on a 6 wheel drive, drop center of .125", with 4" wheels?
I believe crossing the platform will be fine, but straddling it will still hang up. The same would be true of 8 wheel drive, with 4" wheels, if I understand this correctly. Again, all of these answers will be dependent on the wheelbase and track combinations. |

Has anyone tried it with an old Mecanum robot?
How about one with 50LB cantilevered off of a side? |

Re: Has anyone driven over the scoring platform with the KOP AM14U2?
We tried it with an old 6" Mecanum robot with 40-50 lbs on one side of the drivetrain, and it barely bottomed out on the edge. Its control board, however, is dropped a little, so from what I've seen, 6" Mecanums should work. Strafing isn't great with that kind of off-center weight, though.

Re: Has anyone driven over the scoring platform with the KOP AM14U2?
We couldn't get it going fast enough to see a significant problem. Strafing was awful, but it went more or less straight. It did tend to veer off to one side once all four wheels were on the plastic, though.

It was HDPE, the same stuff on the actual field element.

Re: Has anyone driven over the scoring platform with the KOP AM14U2?
We used our 6" Mecanum drive base over the bump last night and this morning. No issues with scraping, but if you go with Mecanum plan on not going over the bump without issue unless you don't have an approach angle greater than about 10 degrees. Once one of the wheels lifts off, it will have difficulty moving at all.
We are also experimenting with WCD, 4" 8 wheels. Unless the belly pan height is increased, I guarantee trouble with high centering. Not saying that either of these options aren't viable. It shouldn't be too much of an issue to build to meet the constraints, and drivers just need to practice. |

Re: Has anyone driven over the scoring platform with the KOP AM14U2?
Anyone considering the AM 4" mecanum wheels? I'm assuming this would not make it over the scoring platform at all because it would be too low.
