Rules Test

My team does a couple rules tests. The first is a game rules test that is written by the strategy lead. The other test is a robot rules test typically written by a mentor. Anyone interested in being a part of drive team has to get a high score (90% this year I believe). If you fail the tests, you retake them until you pass. My team is taking the game rules test this Saturday or early next week at the latest.

WOW this test has been popular I have already received dozens of requests. I will email everyone within 24 hours. 610 is a a fantastic team. Perhaps this is one of the reasons they are so good.

That is definitely a good idea that more teams should do, hate it when drivers on our alliance dont know what they are doing. I think it doesnt have to be so 'formal' though, I think a small oral quiz throughout the season should suffice. The goal shouldn't be to have people memorize all the rules, but to understand them.

It's a multiple-choice quiz in Powerpoint, and we use Turningpoint clickers to speed up the answering and marking process.

We do something similar on our team. Every general meeting we present a rules quiz and as competition gets closer we will create a mandatory test students have to pass. Last year was the first year that we gave this test.
Everyone who went to competition had to pass, this included all of the drive team, pit crew, and scouters. By making this test mandatory, we saw an increase in their knowledge and comprehension of the rules. This is something that our team wants to continue to do because of the immense advantages, so I definitely recommend this method.
