2015: Making field reset easier

Seems like field reset this year will be a lot of work. Maybe a few teams could try to design some machine (remote controlled for safety) that can easily move totes and containers between high and low places that field reset could use. Then we could have a competition to see which team designs the best field resetting machine. Might have to put some limits on machine size so that they can fit through venue doors when transporting them to the field. Maybe there is enough room for three machines on each half of the field so the job can get done more quickly.

I would but I'm a little busy right now.

Ask me again in May.

Re: 2015: Making field reset easier

So...what you are asking us to do...

Is make a robot to carry totes around?

I'll be done in about 4 weeks.

Actually at this moment I have a "tote trolley" in my living room. It can hold 15 to 20 totes and will let a single person move them from the side of the field to the back in a few seconds with much less effort than running them manually. The whole thing is about $25 in parts at Home Depot/Lowes/Menards and can be assembled quickly with a few tools.

I'll post the specs after I decide if it's strong to last through a regional. There needs to be a three way balance between strong enough, light enough and cheap enough for the job. The current iteration is cheap and light enough.

Not nearly as cool as my idea, but maybe more practical
