d-link losing communication

We set up the d-link with the directions set up on the wpilib http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/...o-for-home-use .
But we are having issues with the d-link periodically losing connection while running wirelessly. Power from the voltage regulator module is consistent and the same for power to the roboRio. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

Does the radio completely turn off and reboot, or is it just a loss of connection?

Re: d-link losing communication

Check all the wiring, including to the RIO. And by that, I mean do a tug test. Too many issues come from having a loose wire you don't notice until a slight tug removes it from the socket.

Re: d-link losing communication

We had a similar issue and found the issue to be on our computer (not the drive station laptop). I'm still not sure what the issue is. For us I think it may be a driver issue, Windows 8 issue, etc.

No, the d-link does not turn off, we just see a loss of connection on the driver station for not even a second, things like motor temporarily turn off and on the logs we see power spikes. What is strange is that everything is fine when we are tethered to the d-link. We tried talking to NI people but they thought it was a d-link issue. We tried swapping out routers to one we knew worked but we still lost connection.

Is it causing a brownout?

Re: d-link losing communication

We had this happen with the new d-link. Try going through the Bridge Configuration Utility again and use the instructions for Reset the wireless bridge. Also, make sure that there are not any other d-link routers turned on.

Re: d-link losing communication

We had the exact same issue, we found out that it was the main breaker sparking. We redid the connections, and everything was working fine. I would recommend checking this.
