Just tested the program and the robot executed the turn and went on into the straight drive however it did not stop and I also noticed that I was not getting a distance value on my smart dashboard. Tomorrow we are going to check the encoder with a multimeter and see if we get any voltages.

What kind of voltages are you expecting to get?

No Idea my mentor thought we would get some answers doing that. I'm just concerned the encoder may be broken.

I also think it could be the encoder.setDistanceperpulse(); because I don't know what it needs to be set at.

Re: Autonomous Help

Should the encoder be plugged into DIO or analog?

It needs to be plugged into DIO. What kind of encoder are you working with?

Alright I have it in two of the DIO ports. However it is possible that we soldered it wrong or maybe have the cables plugged into the DIO backwards.

We are going to do that tonight and I think it's to check the solder we did.

The E4P-250-250-N-S-D-D-B has single-ended outputs, and according to the datasheet you should get a square wave on each of the 2 output signal channels (A & B).

As you manually rotate the encoder shaft (very very slowly), you should see the voltage going from ~5V to ~0.4V on each channel.
