Extracting Current Logs
In the lead up to beta testing, I recall a lot of talk about both the current monitoring and logging on the PDP. Currently we're struggling to find any way/documentation of how to access these logs. We understand how to read the current in real time in code, but we want to access the rumoroud logging. Does anyone have any insight into how we can get to past PDP logs?

Re: Extracting Current Logs
They are located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\FRC\Log Files and have the extension .pdplog.
But the log file viewer that shows other things such as battery voltage, CPU usage, and the like has not been modified to show them yet. I believe that CTR has a parser that shows them in table form, but there is still some work to do there. Greg McKaskle |

Re: Extracting Current Logs
in that folder we can only find .dslog and .dsevent, is there something we need to do to enable the PDP logging?

Re: Extracting Current Logs
If you are using the 2015 DS, a roboRIO, a PDP with the latest firmware, with CAN connected between them, you should receive the files when the robot is disabled following an enabled period.
Does that help identify why they aren't produced? Greg McKaskle |

Re: Extracting Current Logs
We haven't done anything to the firmware on the PDP, so that may be why we're not getting the logs. Other than that, we've got everything else hooked up and configured.

Re: Extracting Current Logs
Please use the roboRIO web page to verify the version and update the FW of the PDP. I believe it will start working at that point.
Any particular visualization you were hoping to see for the currents other than plots over time? Greg McKaskle |

Re: Extracting Current Logs
Yup, we'll do that first thing tomorrow.
Plots over time, integrated with voltage and the rest of the DS logs would be good. I think a cool visualisation would be percentage current draw (of total) or a running total energy used (this may be a bit crude/inaccurate). How useful would they be? I'm not as sure. |

Re: Extracting Current Logs
Sorry to bring up an old thread but is there a log view available to read the .pdplog files yet? We update our PDP firmware and we're getting the .pdplog files now, but couldn't find anything to read it?

Re: Extracting Current Logs
I think that FIRST is testing this internally right now... They want to make sure it works as expected before giving it to teams.
