Looks like a pretty neat concept if I'm understanding it right. Btw, nice to see 1771 back in action. I'm hoping to see an elegant wooden robot on the field .

crude but effective. We too often use cardboard so we have a better understanding of the spacial relations within our robot. It also gives people a tangible, rough, one to one model of the current design.

While I am glad to see 1771 back also, it is a VERY different 1771 than previous years. The seniors on the team this year, were freshman when 1771 last competed. They are very enthusiastic and smart, which is great, but as far as FRC experience goes, somewhat limited. But we have a TON of interested freshman/sophomores, which is really great for continuing the team.

Of course we are also behind schedule (who isn't?), and it seems we can't stay at our workspace past 5:30PM...so at 3 hours a day, it will be interesting.

Three hours a day has worked pretty well for me.

Glad to see 1771 back in the game! Hopefully we can cross paths again pretty soon.

Share your secrets please! We only work 3 hours a day too, skip Wednesdays, and meet 10 hours over the weekend.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I don't know if there really is a secret. We know when we're going to meet, we know what we can do in our shop, and we try to hash out as much as possible over Trello (and a Facebook group chat for the mentors) during the day so we can avoid spinning our wheels. The results may not be utterly dominant (draft status, left to right: last pick, last pick, last pick, backup robot, second-to-last pick), but practiced drivers and knowing our role does a lot for getting the job done.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Stephen Kowski set the schedule when he worked with 2815 in 2009 and 2010, and one of the many things I picked up from him over that time was how to make the most of that. After he graduated, 2815 kept it going the three other years I was a part of their team; when 4901 started, it was natural to keep it that way since our kids were coming from all over town and usually with their parents giving them rides.

We used to get 7 hours each weekday and 12+ hours on saturday and sunday each. Our school is very open minded and loves the robotics program

I can almost guarantee that you will see an elegant wooden robot on the field at Peachtree.
