Could be the orientation of the piece they want to mount it to. For instance, the wings on the linked picture above are for mounting something directly behind the holes. If you rotate the chain 90 degrees (ie. screws through the holes in the chain would be parallel to the face you are trying to mount on) then they wouldn't work right out of the box. A COTS solution for this would be nice, but it can be solved easily without one. My team is bending a T Gusset 90 degrees in order to put screws through chain and then mount to a parallel surface.
