Bins or containers?

There are a lot of people who say containers. I say bins. What do you think?

Re: Bins or containers?

Bins for shorthand, containers if you're being formal about it.

Re: Bins or containers?

I say recycling containers or "ReCons". Sometimes I call them bins when I'm speaking to those who don't know about the game.

I feel like the European influence on my life has come into play, I call them bins too. They are however, as per the game, called containers.

Re: Bins or containers?

We say "Cans".

"Bins" is confusing; it could refer to the totes.

Re: Bins or containers?

Well, chances are, there'll be more tote bots than bin bots, so I think that having a bin bot would make your team more valuable. There are less bin bots than tote ones to compete against, so it'll be easier for your robot to be well-known as an important team member. Bin bots can also score more points by stacking bins on containers than tote bots can by only stacking.

So, I'd say bins.

Re: Bins or containers?

Everytime I discuss this with someone, all kinds of terms are being used to describe the game pieces which seem interchangeable in some instances.

One thing they really understand is when I say "Trash Can!"

"Cans".
Recyling can = can.
Tote = tote.

Either container or can. Like beeble said, "bin" could be confused with tote.

Re: Bins or containers?

Generally I like to use containers and totes. Everyone understands what a tote is, and both are the names used in the manual. However, I often slip into "boxes" or "cans." Those two are just much more clear imo.

What's wrong with TOTE and RECYCLING CONTAINER, the official names?

Re: Bins or containers?

On our team we have been saying cans. But maybe that is just because we are from Minnesota.

It might get a little loud if everyone is shouting.

I don't think it's loud enough. If it were louder maybe more people would actually read the game manual.
