KOP BOM
Can someone please post the KOP bill of materials. We are trying to inventory our kit before we unpack. Thanks.
(US First is completely inaccessible right now). Thanks. |

Re: KOP BOM
We are putting together our very first BOM and want to make sure we're doing it right. KOP--on the BOM or not? Items from previous year KOP? Thanks.

Re: KOP BOM
Have you read rule R9? If so, are you having trouble understanding it? I am...
I think you have to include all the KOP items that you used on the robot, on the BOM. edit: but not according to the Tournament rules... I think the first line in the blue box means you put a cost of Zero for new KOP items. I think the last line in the blue box says that you put a cost of Zero for KOP items retrieved from previous robots. Last edited by MrForbes : 29-01-2015 at 15:25. |

Re: KOP BOM
I have only skimmed the BOM rules for this year. but they seem similar for years past. My understanding is you have to list KOP parts in the BOM. They do not go against your cost.
For example (I am sorry for using a past years example but it works for clarity) Non rookies did not get a CRio, You need to include it in the BOM, but it as a 0 cost. |

Re: KOP BOM
The tournament rules seem to let us exclude KOP items.
Perhaps we'll have a lawyer or two speak up, and make sure? |

Re: KOP BOM
For our own documentation purposes, we include the KOP items on the BOM with $0 cost, even though it may not be required. Helps to be able to reference exactly what we used without having to dig up old robots in our shop.

This still is interesting (not in the effect anyone sort of way, but the interesting rules sort of way). Items I currently don't think you have to cost account or document in any quantity. All legal speed controllers since they were in FIRST Choice this year or in the KOP. Any control system component that was in the KOP including additional PCMs or VRMs. CIMs, MiniCIMs, & BAG motors, and most other motors since they have been listed previously in KOP. 1"x1"x1/8" aluminum angle, 1/2" round and hex bearings, #35 chain. The older KOP lists are interesting, they include items like 1/4" aluminum plate, 1/2" round aluminum shaft, 2"x4" aluminum box tube, 1" sch 40 aluminum pipe, and more. This is a good rule change in my opinion. The BOM is already barely useful in how poorly most teams complete it, how quickly most inspectors look at it, and how far away most teams are from the budget limit anyway. This should speed up inspection, I've hated having to not give out inspection stickers because someone's BOM didn't include their cRIO. This is a good rule change with some interesting, though not impactful, effects. |

Re: KOP BOM
It looks like for this year that it is completely possible to have a BOM with only the team information on it, that is assuming I understand R9 correctly and have only used KOP items from any year !
Wow what a change. Must be one those "change is coming" statement at kickoff. |
