Pneumatics Wiring

I'm surprised that the compressor is connected directly to the PCM. See http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/...he-2015-system.

Past (2014 etc), the wiring requirements included the PDB with a circuit breaker and a relay (which included a fuse).

Strikes me as odd.

How do we not need to same safety and isolation features?

Seems like we could still wire the compressor the old way, but why aren't we required to wire through the PDP?

Thoughts? Comments?

I would just like to point out that the PCM is connected to PDP and has a 20A fuse on the port that it is connected to. And of course the PDP is connected to the main breaker.

Thank you! I hadn't worked back that far with the wiring to notice the additional protection.

The PCM also has some fancy circuitry that's able to detect shorts/other faults and shut down the compressor way faster than a fuse/breaker.

It also has an automatic shut-down to the compressor if the limit switch ever becomes disconnected or unresponsive.

Though it only takes 12V inputs, it does have a jumper to switch to 24V output. Was this your concern?

Single Solenoid came in previous Kits and is marked as model # VPLE18-M5H-4/2-1/4

On some of these special order valves the wiring does not follow the standard directions (use terminals 1 & 2). If your valve doesn't work when power is applied, then switch your positive wire from terminal 2 to terminal 3 (use terminals 1 & 3).
