[FTC]: DC Controller Not Working
Dear Chief Delphi,
We are the Charging Champions, FTC Team 8660 from SoCal. Today when we were testing our robot, our DC Controller suddenly stopped giving power to its motors. All of the other controllers work and they are all receiving power (as the red lights on the controllers are on). However, in both tele-op and autonomous, the motors aren't receiving power from the controller that isn't working. What could be the problem? Is there a solution, and if so, what is it? Sounds like you might have blown the controller.
Have you checked the output of the motor controller with a multimeter? Do the servos on your robot still work? Look at your NXT screen, while in teleop, does the screen say "EXT Battery: OFF" (or something similar?). |

We do not have any servos on our robot: just DC's. The program does not say EXT BATTERY OFF

I would recommend:
- checking your motor wiring. This has caused issues for us before. - swapping out the motor controller with another one - making sure code declares motors correctly. |

The process I might go through:
1) I would do is make sure there is a red LED that is on when main power is "on" 2) Double check the RJ-45's to the controller. push them in again. Make sure that you know the sequence of controllers coming from the NXT. 3) pull gently on the power wires and the wires that go to the motor to make sure they are firmly connected. 4) Check "motors and sensors" setup and make sure that it is defined correctly in the code, 5) check that the code that tells the motors to go is working. 6) Get a new motor and plug it into the controller. Don't remove the existing motor, just have the new motor loose and plug the white connector into it (or screw in the Neverest). You just want to see if the motor is turning. |
