Righting Tipped RC's

Recently in our testing, we realized that our robot's effector mechanism (a very common one from the basic designs we've seen thus far) has no way of picking up fallen recycling containers. Life Alert might help, but we need a simple and streamlined means to right tipped RC's. Has anyone had the same problem? Can anyone help us find a solution?

More details; we're using an elevator design much like Team Indiana's Ri3D. It utilizes a lead screw attached to a gearbox to lift and lower, and we have two seperate gatherer arms at the same distance as the arms outside of our "frame." We're hoping to find a solution that we can attach to the ends of the elevator that won't complicate our subassembly.

Re: Righting Tipped RC's

Adding free-spinning blocks at the ends of your grabber that can hook onto the can will allow you to lift and flip.
They should spin on an axis parallel to the front and top planes of the robot. Bearings or even just bare axles will work.

Re: Righting Tipped RC's

My team was able to put a piece of traction material under our end effector. It's kind of similar to 1986's RC righting mechanism. You can see it towards the end of our most recent update video.

Re: Righting Tipped RC's

Our robot can right a tipped RC with a pretty simple fork lift style end effector. I will try and get a video of this at our pre season scrimmage on Sunday.
