It looks neat but your alliance partners might not enjoy that because you're knocking three recycling containers over and not many robots are equipped with methods to right them.

Tis but a flesh wound!

Yes, we're aware of that problem. Our robot can flip the bins back up pretty quickly, so it's less of a problem that it appears. However, since our competition isn't for the next month, we'll be working on an UPGRADE PART for the piece that knocks the bins over, to see if we can push them instead. We have a method for doing it, but it's not quite there yet.

I like the intense emphasis on the "UPGRADE PART" part of your post.

That's an interesting idea. It looks like a great robot and I hope you guys go far -- three tote autonomous in 15 seconds is a lot harder than some people (especially those non-programmers, relevant gif below) understand.

Don't worry about having to do everything. I'm sure you can find an alliance partner in VA that can take care of those cans.

Re: Team 1418 Three Tote Autonomous

Wow cool but that messes up a multi-bin+tote robot like ours in auto... guess teams are going have to decide in auto otherwise there will be traffic jams. But hey 20 trumps 14 possible.

Re: Team 1418 Three Tote Autonomous

Looks really good!

We're doing a 3-tote auto stack almost the exact same way, but hopefully without moving the RCs... we'll be lifting the totes up over the RCs instead. Looks like we have very similar robot designs... with the multi-hand tote elevator.

We have a 2-tote autonomous that can lift over the bins without disturbing them. Unfortunately our tote elevator takes too long to get to bin height (about 3s) for that approach to be viable for us for 3-tote, as we're strafing and pushing at full speed already.

Re: Team 1418 Three Tote Autonomous

Does knocking over the RCs count for autonomous points? How often does it get all of them into the auto zone?

We hadn't actually considered that, but if I recall correctly we don't push it far enough to get over the scoring structure. It would be 6 points to get them in the auto zone. Interesting idea to consider though.
