Go to Post My team heard another team describe the Championships as "10,000 kids jamming the Georgia Dome for 3 days…more nerds per square foot than a Star Trek convention…and more purposefully employed " Is this true?, Because I don't think there could possibly be a more wonderful place on earth - Emily3204 [more]

Unhappy VA elims... something's wrong

Team 1051 is listed as the #6 seed on the standings page,
http://www2.usfirst.org/2003comp/eve.../teamrank.html

but is not listed anywhere in the elimination match results,
http://www2.usfirst.org/2003comp/eve.../matchsum.html

So, what really happened at this regional?? Did this team seed high and decline to participate in the finals?? Or is this another discrepency?

interesting what happened there....(i believe this is how it happened correct me if I'm wrong)#3 picked #8, #8 declined, #3 picked another team, #4 then attempted to pick #8, it was permitted until a volunteer ran out to the announcer to give him a correction. According the rules when you pick a ranked team if the decline they cannot accept another team's offer. They can still pick, but cannot be picked. Interesting stuff I wasn't aware of. Of course this doesn't really relate to the thread specifically I just thought it needed mentioning.

I'm a mentor for team 1051. After the qualifiying rounds we were in 11th place, and did not get to pick. We were also overlooked by the top 8 seeds and did not participate in the Elims. We were disappointed that we didn't get picked, but figured it was due to our last two rounds: (Round 6 - Lost transmission in Autonomous Mode. Round 7 - Flipped over in Autonomous Mode.)

As a rookie team, we felt that we did really well finishing 11th. Unfortunately, we did not have enough money to go to any other events, including Houston. But we will return next year!!

As for the #6 listing, it looks like the Elims rounds were being added to the QR averages. Thus, those teams that scored low in the ER, had their averages lowered. I can only assume that this is a mistake in the software.
