What robot are you most proud of?

Howdy

Out of all the robots 144 has built, this years bot has been the absolute best robot we've built yet. But new isnt always better. With that said, what robot do you think is the best you've created so far?

Well since we are also one year out of Rookie..this one last years was building as simple as possible and not really having a clue. This year is much better.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

In terms of ranking and results at competition, our 2010 robot performed the best. Until I see what our 2015 robot can do at competition, I'm most proud of our bot from 2014. It seemed competitive and reliable with (relatively) easy maintenance.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

There's been so many but it's a close tie between our 1999 and 2002 robots, with the edge to our 2002 bot because it #1 seeded at two regionals and won one of them.

More recently, our 2013 and 2014 robots were pretty robust so we have a place in our hearts for them as well.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

As a rookie team, of course I have to say this year.

That said, going forward, I know my opinion will not be so much on how well it meets the competition goals, but on how well we can get bizarre ideas to work.

Case in point, this year our rotating tower may not be the most efficient design, but we we're able to pull off four hooks and can pick up from three sides. I am very proud of our students and mentors making this crazy idea work. Now if only it had a name...

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

Lunacy....maybe not so good of a game, but we built a nice robot to play it. And build season was a lot of fun, since we had a complete, working prototype by week 4.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

It's pretty close between our last two robots:
2013 (Orion)- Einstein appearance, 2 district wins, IRI finals
2014 (Neo)- Galileo #4 captain, 2 district finals, 1 district win

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

We have made significant improvements every year (this is our fourth), so the answer so far has always been "this year's". An interesting statistic as I thought back over our designs is the simplification. Our first two robots had 9 and 10 independent actuators, the third had 7, and this year we just have 4 (H-drive and lift). Maybe next year we'll only have one.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

I would have to say our 2012 robot, even though competitively we could have done better, we really came together as a team that year.

It was the first year we used vision. We solved the pose of the robot, and I got to go to the international science fair (ISWEEEP) and present the vision program to a bunch of professional engineers for a week, placing 3rd in the end.

We made half court shots. I haven't seen another robot from that year do such, though I haven't really looked.

video: http://youtu.be/vzemnptiebk?t=3m2s

It wasn't so much our success that year, but that it paved our way to success for the following year.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

This one. It looks so much nicer and runs so much better (especially compared to last year) than any of the other two robots I helped make. 2013 was an odd-looking bosch bot, 2014 was poorly cadded and had numerous errors. This year is coming off with only minor hitches.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

With out a doubt this year. We have our first fully CADed robot. We used to do a little CAD for our CNC tank tread drivetrain up too 2011, but 2015 is our first full CAD.

Re: What robot are you most proud of?

My personal favorite of ours is our 2014 robot, partially because it worked extremely well with a balance of custom and COTS. It was our most used robot with 2 regional events and 2 off season events plus several demos.
Our most competitive robot was arguably last year but our 2013 robot has more stats to back it up with being a Curie semifinalist.
