Re: Predictions Week One: Starting to Stack

Growing up in GA and the SE region, I would get excited about the little snow flakes that would line my lawn. We don't have the powerhouses and world champions of other regions, but we like our robots and are proud of what we have.

As a young FIRST-ling, it was exciting to open up a LF post and feel that someone else is paying attention to our little corner. Perhaps someone saw the cool robots we made and the cool strategies we're putting together.

I suppose the new format is more "digestible" and some like it, but in my opinion...the word escapes me. Call it boring? lazy?

Color me disappointed.

Re: Predictions Week One: Starting to Stack

After watching 836 at North Carolina and 3824 at Palmetto last year, I can't wait to see what kind of awesome beastly machines they bring to Palmetto. As for 900, well..... um..... we will bring a robot. Which we will improve on before week 4.

836 was also superb in Pittsburgh.

Re: Predictions Week One: Starting to Stack

Inland Empire Regional:
Despite being a smaller regional event at only 38 teams, Inland Empire is sporting a number of teams with lofty ambitions. Defending IE champ 399, 2014 Einstein participant 973, fourteen time regional champion 359, and rising star 2485 all will be gunning for the recycling cans off the step at this event, with the Greybots potentially the fastest but the WARLords the only aiming for all four of them. Yet, this early in the season, even stronger events like this are still likely to be determined largely by the scoring platforms. While you can't count out any of the previously mentioned teams in that department, it's 3476's human player loading machine that may be the most ready to shoulder the load. Without quite the depth of some other premiere events, seeding an alliance structure will be incredibly important here.

Inland Empire is going to be a really good week 1 regional. Can't wait to compete and see the robots this year. We are going to have to step it up.

It is humbling to be selected as a favorite beside The Pink Team. However, we are unable to attend the regional due to severe weather conditions

Wow, that's a shame. Hopefully things shape up and you're lucky enough to sneak in for quals. Otherwise, I hope you have another regional.

Agreed.

Also growing up in Georgia FIRST, we may not be the headliners with "hardest regional" and long-time favorites that all other teams strive to be, but we have our fun.

It's disappointing to see almost nothing written about regionals that don't have the big names filling up their spaces.

I might be biased, wanting others to feel the love for my home regional(s), but I'm sure everybody wants that of their regional

Dang, that's a huge bummer. I was looking forward to seeing y'all's robot and those beautiful drivetrains your team builds. If the snow and ice clears by the end of thursday, would your team still be able to come, or was the decision made by the school to not attend at all?

1319 is coming to the southern classic regional over Palmetto this year.

I'm sure 900 will have a good robot this year too though.

We'll see how 2815 does, but keep in mind they hold a lot of banners due to the Billfred effect

We'll see how both rookie teams do, but also keep in mind they were both 3rd robots on their alliance (Not taking anything away from their achievements last year, but I don't think you can say they have the potential to win the event based on that).
Having seen 343's video I expect them to do well. Much like having seen your team's video I expect you'll do well. My speculation isn't simply based on award history. If that's all I had to go off of, then what gives your team an edge on the field at the Georgia Southern Classic Regional? Keep that in mind.

Also true, I missed the 1319 not being on the roster. Just too used to seeing them at home.

If the Billfred effect is a real phenomenon. 4901 now has claim to it.

I would honestly say that video or history for any team says less than normal at this point like it always does, considering we're both talking about Week 1 Regionals of a new game where no one has actually done a single qualification match yet. Keep that in mind, bro. I think we're going to see great performances hopefully from all teams, and I'm really excited to see all the teams mentioned here at GSCR compete. And also excited to see 343 compete at Peachtree; they were great to announce last year, and gave a great show.
