How long does it take for the arms to hit the top of the RC? It looks like about 2-3 seconds from the video. Do the arms fall using their own weight?

Thanks. See you at Bayou.
You're right on the hinge. Its just a door hinge with a short piece of angle-iron with a longer piece welded at about a 60-70 degree angle to hold the tube.

The polycarb tubes hold up well. They're lexan, so about 500x stronger than glass. They can bend completely around.. We've even uprighted a can because the hook got stuck (then we broke our 3d printed claw because it slapped back to the robot so hard).

They do fall from momentum. We have a little rubber-band attached to our superstructure to give them a little extra boost. We secure the cans in 3 seconds.

The hinges are adjustable. We can move them from left to right in order to set up just right on the field.

Are the tubes strapped to the longer piece with cable ties or something like that?

They're held on by two hose clamps. There is also some thin safety cable that runs through the tubes. That cable is attached to the hook at the top and tied off down at the bottom. The hook is also secured a second time by a nut and bolt that goes all the way through.

Oh, and can't wait to see you guys at Bayou as well, glad you could make the trip out! After those awesome finals matches at Red Stick Rumble I've been looking forward to you guys ever since.
