Presentation apparel

Our team will be presenting for the RCA at our first-ever mainland tournament in a few days, and we were wondering, what is the accepted level of dress for the students giving these presentations? We are wondering if perhaps the students typically dress more formally on the mainland than we do here in Hawaii. Do the boys wear suit and tie, shirt and tie, nice slacks and a button-down, or a polo shirt and jeans? Same question for the girls. Just want to be sure our team brings along the right 'duds'.

Re: Presentation apparel

Dress in a way that properly represents your team and your presentation!

I mentored 33 when they won the Chairman's Award for the first time, wearing safari outfits donated by Rainforest Cafe.

I also have mentored teams who dress up in full suits, and others who wore their team uniform, and others who dressed professional but in their team colors.

What matters is that you represent who your team is, while being comfortable and prepared for your presentation.

GOOD LUCK! And have fun!

Re: Presentation apparel

I totally agree with Carolyn - it's all about what you're comfortable with, and what your team is about. 1540 just won our seventh Chairman's Award on Saturday, and to my knowledge, we've never worn anything other than team t-shirts and jeans. That being said, many teams have had success with more formal attire, so it's really up to you.

Re: Presentation apparel

OK, thanks! So our spiffy new aloha shirts (thanks to our newest sponsor, Hilo Hatties!!!) and black slacks should be fine. I'll tell the team.

Re: Presentation apparel

Exploding Bacon won their first Chairmans with one presenter dressed as a fairy princess and the other two switching costumes along the way

Re: Presentation apparel

After hearing what other teams wore to their first presentation that won. I'm begining to wonder do you think that by wearing something that stands out from the crowd the judges better remember you? Also how did you tie in what you wore with your theme?

In our essay we didn't have a theme but we really wanted to go with a theme of some sort to help make our presentation board. What are your opinions on this?

We were planning on just wearing our team shirts/sweatshirts and jeans. We do look diverse though since I'm a 5 foot tall guy and she's a 5 6' girl.

So hopefully we will be remembered.

Ill just bribe the judges with our team stickers I mean seriously everyone loves stickers.

Re: Presentation apparel

It's usually just whatever the team decides. My team prefers dressing up because we all like the 'professional business look' to go along with our presentation.
