Black motor mating gear

Here is my problem:
We are going with the mating gear provided in the kit, to mate to the black motor. The bore for the shaft is 1/4" and small parts doesnt sell any gears with that bore , that are 10 tooth and 3/8th pitch.

So where can i order a gear with a 1/4" bore that is 10 tooth and 3/8ths pitch?
Or can i just drill out the bore of the gear to 5/8" ?
Thanks
Justin

Why not have the 16T 32 DP gear drive another 32DP gear directly?

THis way you don't have to modify the gear cluster at all. All you have to do is provide the cluster a 1/4 inch shaft to rotate on.

Question 1/4" SHAFT FOR GEAR CLUSTER

Joe,

What about the 1/4" shaft you mentioned for the supplied gear cluster? Is it fixed and the gear just turns on it? Won't it gaul up? We could put the shaft in bearings but the gear may spin on it anyway.

Your suggestions for material and mounting.....

Thanks in Advance,

Mike Rozar, Project Manager Team 547

Question Help - More Data on Gear Cluster needed

We want to mesh a 30 tooth gear with the 16 tooth portion of the supplied gear cluster. Ok, it is 32 DP but what is the pressure angle. I understand that this is important too. Some gear catalogs say you can't mix pressure angles (like 14.5 and 20).

Perplexed and stuck......

Thanks,

Gear Data

I will try to answer a few questions:

1) The pressure angle of the 16 tooth part of the cluster gear is 20°.

2) We just bought the motor and gearbox from Anderson and they spin the cluster gear right on a steel shaft. The gear has some brass content (copper, etc) and is a pretty good bearing.
We are rotating the gear directly on a hardened 1/4" shaft. The shaft should have a slight press fit into one end of your housing or you can put a clip ring on the end. Attached is our 3-D representation of how we are attaching it.

Hope this helps
