Recycle Rush is a different game, compared to what we FRC competitors have been used to for several years. It is not possible for a team to improve its seed by playing defense. However, it is ironic that in a game with a "green" theme (recycling), littering the opposing alliance's side of the field is a very effective tactic for improving a team's seed.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

I have a feeling we will start seeing agreements made between alliances to not throw noodles until co-op is finished. The noodles can be worth valuable points, but unless your human player is consistently landing them on the opposite side of the field, co-op is more valuable.

Re: PNW Noodle Death Count

After the events, who is responsible for all the recycling of the noodles? Are they sent back to HQ?

Pit admin should have an area where used noodles from teams or the field can be dropped off. These noodles will be up for grabs by anyone (2016 bumpers?).

Any remaining at the end of the event can be taken to a local recycling center. They are Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE/number 4).

If no one volunteers to take them, they can be loaded onto the truck and again placed at pit admin at the next event. Any that make it back to FIRST HQ at the end of the season will be taken to be recycled.

Throwing the noodles away should be last resort.

Re: PNW Noodle Death Count

Recycling was detailed in this blog: District Ranks, Events, and Pool Noodle Recycling

Quote:
Pool Noodle (‘Litter’) Recycling Update
Staffer Kate guest blogged last month that we were working on a way to recycle discarded pool noodles at FRC events, but that the exact details were TBD. With Week 1 events upon us, we wanted to let you know that Pit Admin will be hosting a noodle recycling area. Discarded noodles from the playing field will go there. You’re welcome to go through them and pick out any noodles you may want (you know, in case bumpers come back next year). Alternatively, if you have pool noodles you don’t want anymore, please drop them off here instead of throwing them away. These noodles will either be recycled locally or put in empty spots on the trucks that come back to FIRST at the end of the season. We’ll consolidate them and make sure they get to a recycling center nearby that can properly process them.
Good luck at those Week 1 events!
Frank

The top teams at Oregon City didn't really throw noodles, and I think that is why we didn't see much noodle throwing at that event. Expect that to change when Wilsonville rolls around next week.
Part of the reason nobody threw them much was many noodles would get caught under a robot and trashed and people got mad at not being able to move for obvious reasons. Also the human players weren't as skilled at throwing the noodles as some of the teams from the Dallas regional for example, where noodles made it all the way across the field.

Look at Anacortes's Noodle Score, ridiculously good. Here is the link:

Anyways, 12 noodles destroyed at the Glacier Peak District event.

Let us not forget the amount of bots murdered by the noodles . I think they just get in the way. When 144s bot came back we had a few chunks of noodle stuck deep inside our omni wheels

There were less that weren't put back on the truck than 9. Now I didn't do an exact count but 4 full boxes left in the truck and 2 and a partial came back, unless there are some in the front of the truck that doesn't get unloaded after each event.

Not just noodles - have NEVER seen TRASH cans so full of recyclables and returnables as we just did at one of our districts! Seriously, the number of pop bottles alone in the trash could've financed build season pizza for a team, easy!
