Dropping Packets?

How do we stop from having such large packet drops with the robot? Sometimes we are hitting close to 100%.

Re: Dropping Packets?

In the past for us it usually had to do with a 'block' in programming. I would try to deploy the template code and see if you encounter the same problem.

I would make sure your radio was configured using the configuration tool.

Re: Dropping Packets?

Do you have any tight loops? ie a while loop such as shown here http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh....php?p=1438066
That would take up a lot of cpu power.

We had the same problem and it was periodic, turns out it was because we had a firewall (Malwarebytes) running. Turning it off completely (as well as any other firewall) solved our problem. I don't know if it's an obvious fix for some people but it took a lot of tinkering for me to figure this out being a rookie programmer on a rookie team.

Also if that isn't the problem, are you connected wirelessly or through ethernet? If it's wireless then switch to ethernet and see if that fixes it, if not then at least we know what's causing the problem.

Is your radio in the belly of the robot right next to the motors? Is it being shielded by the metal chassis? This is assuming you mean via wireless and not tethered.

Re: Dropping Packets?

Also check to make sure your driver's station is free of virus and spyware.

Try a "sfc /scannow" we (CSA/FTAA) had an interesting issue with that at the MAR Mount Olive District event.
That command will require you to have Windows media present so be aware of that.

Re: Dropping Packets?

We will try and test the spyware and firewall idea and let you know how that goes and we put the radio a bit up and away from the motors to avoid issues the motor was cause. Had that problem in the past.

Re: Dropping Packets?

You should post a screen shot of the Driver Station Log Viewer, so that we can see more precisely what is happening.
