[FRCTop25.com] Week 2 Voting

After another great weekend of competition, it's time to get in your votes for the week 2 FRC Top 25!

As a reminder, only teams that competed this week are eligible to be voted for. This is different than last year. Please check your ballot carefully before submitting as a ballot improperly filled out will not be counted.

We had an awesome 137 voters last week and we hope to beat that number this week!

If you saw anything cool this weekend that you'd like us to see or have a topic you think would make for a great discussion, please let us know! Shoot us an email to mikeandjustinitm@gmail.com.

Thank you! Be sure to join us on Tomorrow night at 9PM EST (6PM PST) at the link below to count down the Week 2 Top 25. We hope to see you then!

Re: [FRCTop25.com] Week 2 Voting

It'd be really helpful for voters to have some sort of error-checking on the form to ensure people aren't voting for a team that didn't compete that week... week 1 didn't seem too bad, but in a large part because only those teams had already competed.

Perhaps at least provide a list of the teams that competed the past week, if the error checking's not practical for this week?

We check it on the back end. However, I agree it would be nice to notify voters of a potential mistake before they submit. It's something we will look into.

Congrats on the win last week!

how are the points calculated in the top 25 ranking? Are they based on match scores or is there some formula that is being used?

It's as simple as the #1 ranked team on your ballot gets 25 points. The #2 team on your ballot earns 24 points and so on.

The points each team earns are added up and the team with the most points is the #1 Ranked team overall. The team with the second most points is the #2 ranked team overall and so on.

Re: [FRCTop25.com] Week 2 Voting

This was a great, dense week of competition. This is me publicly campaigning for 2481 and 2451 to go 1/2 in the rankings because they should at least be in the discussion for best team-up in their part of the country.

It would be a long shot for anyone to rank above 1114 this week. That is not to say that other teams are not great because they are, just that 1114 blew everyone away!

Wow! Thanks for one hell of a compliment! As much as we would love that honor and recognition, 1114 has an iron clad grip on that #1 slot, and deservingly so.

As a team that spent an entire build season gunning for a design that we felt made for the best landfill capable robot, 1114 is able to do things that we thought were actually impossible. That's a word I very rarely, if ever, use when it comes to FIRST, so that is basically the highest level of praise I could ever think to give to a team.

When we were doing our efficiency trials, we just didn't think it was possible to have a machine operate at a level that made it capable of COMFORTABLY clearing the entire 18 landfill totes and creating those 3 RC capped stacks given the time limit. We felt 3 capped stacks is a goal we would be striving for all season and may never come reasonably close to sniffing in terms of actual achievement in competition. The timing cap just seemed too severe and in a game where rushing (ironic, I know) is not necessarily ever in your best interest when it comes to scoring those high point stacks, it didn't seem comfortably possible. Still, that's our goal, and we hope to eventually get there. 1114 is there, on week 2 mind you, with enough time to spare to do laps around those 3 capped stacks. That's insane. Hats off to 1114 for an absolutely inspiring achievement in robot design.

I'd bet all the corn dogs in the world that 1114 will be ranked #1 this week.

Thanks for the compliment and praise though, means a lot!

Re: [FRCTop25.com] Week 2 Voting

Mike or Justin, can you guys make sure that you post the top 25 for the week on the website under the rankings section after the live show has concluded? It would be appreiated students and the like dont have to watch the lengthy broadcast to figure out who made the list. (I would love to watch it but its on a school night.)
