As was Inland Empire--the Field Reset was instructed that they needed to be the last ones to check the totes and containers, and they were--but that didn't mean that teams didn't do the placement. Sometimes a team would have to come out and reposition their robot to make sure everything was in the right place.

I was at the Blue end of the field at Reading. I got the yellow totes and RCs out of the way so robots could be placed, get them back in, and made sure I was the last one touching them if drivers had fiddled with them. It took maybe one or two cycles before the drive team understood this, and by the end of the day I figured out how they wanted things set up. I just wanted fast and easy, to the rules.
Regarding the 60 seconds, there were only a couple of robots that had a long setup time. I got them off the field quickly by saying the MC is announcing the Red Alliance, and you really really want to get off the field before Angry Eric got down to this end of the field! That worked better than any Ref. |
