Go to Post I'm absolutely certain there are simpler ways of accomplish the same things. I'm simply not the best that FIRST has to offer in this regard and part of what drives me to keep going is the desire to get better at achieving an elegant solution with as few superfluous processes as possible. - Madison [more]

Re: 2015 Greater Kansas City Regional

Well then, what a regional this was. A very long set of congratulations to go around after such an amazing event.

Congratulations to 1810, Mary Beth Mattingly, on becoming the 2015 Greater KC Woodie Flowers Finalist Award Winner!

Congratulations to Alliance 1700, or as I heard that they dubbed themselves, Team 10 Year. 1785, 1723, and 1710 What an incredible finals y'all put on, and I'm still trying to figure out how such an amazing alliance managed to be put together! Consistently putting up over a 100 points throughout all of the Playoffs is no small feat, yet your alliance made it look like an art form. Your spots at Championships were well earned, and I look forward to seeing each of your teams in St. Louis. (P.S, the "tradition" of a team from the previous winning alliance winning the next year is kept alive. 1710 and 1785, looks like it's up to you two to win GKC next year!)

Congratulations to the Finalists, 1730 1806 and 1777. You were a fearsome alliance and made incredibly tall stacks with such grace and ease. The Finals matches were amazing matches and the rate that the score flipped between favoring the Red Alliance and Blue Alliance was something I hadn't seen before. Incredible matches and incredible robots.

To the #3 Seeded Alliance:
2410 You all never fail to impress me year in and year out. You never dropped out of the top 10 all competition, and put on one of the most amazing years we've ever had. It's incredible to think that just 2 years ago, we had won the unofficial "Machine Shop Award" for excessive use of the machine shop, and today you won a Motorola Quality Award. I'm incredibly proud to continue to go to competitions wearing my Silver Hat and proclaim that I am a Metal Mustang.
1987 What an incredible robot. Such a complex design, yet executed with the simplicity that is always found within the robots that you all design. It's unfortunate that we couldn't continue on wards with your team. Seeing the robot create the stacks with such fluid motion was inspiring. Good luck at Buckeye! (By the way, congratulations Austin Ahern on becoming a Dean's List Finalist!)
2357 You were a steal in Alliance Selections! Your team did incredible during the playoffs, and I suspect that your team is going to do big things in the future. I met your head mentor during the Mentor Parade, and combined with the level of competitiveness that you brought to our Alliance, your team will be a force to be reckoned with.

1710 Congratulations on a well deserved Chairman's Award. Your team never fails to impress me each year with the improvement you make to your already incredible program. Good luck on chasing down the Championship Chairman's Award in St. Louis.

All in all, congratulations to everyone who won an award this year, and to all of the teams that competed at the Greater Kansas City Regional! For two years I've been coming back after graduating, and I always look forward to this regional! Good luck to anyone with regionals coming up, and I hope to see you in St. Louis for Championships this year!
