Added: Sry I didn't update the posts in order, and it may not make much sense at all...I got lost, but looking at previous page, all the scores were recorded w/ 1 fairly quickly fixed mistake. (A reversal from live feed video to the page caused it). For actual results see FIRST Results page...It makes more sense, though w/ fewer details. They need to reverse the schedule results pages, or the camera side of field, or the live scoring on the feed...(On the feed, scoring is Red Left...But there is Blue Carpet behind the Red...and it is the Left side of the field....Left is Red, Right is Blue, no, that's not right...They do not ever match. Red/Blue...Blue/Red...Red/Blue. (Do that to a type A! Argh....)

Try doing this from home.

Please elaborate. I am very interested in 4183, but wasn't able to see many of their matches and missed the finals entirely. What do you mean?

Re: 2015 Arizona East Regional

Stacks of six with a can are better than stacks of four with a can. Might be a short while before video is posted. The game is exciting with evenly matched alliances.

Oh..... Congrats to Crush 1011 for the long deserved chairman's!!

Those were the most entertaining finals I have ever witnessed in person. Congrats to 4183, 4146, and 3944, on a well deserved win!

As for us, we will see everyone at Arizona West. We'll be pushing that 30lb. weight allowance...

What happened was we focused on more stacks of fewer totes with cans and they had higher stacks but less of them

Re: 2015 Arizona East Regional

Another CG Book, so sorry... (For the truncated version, just read between the lines, look at paragraphs 5~8). And do your own search).

Compiling results and doing some math / team comparisons...I just noticed something quite unique...That must affect comparisons of Regionals / Teams /Results / And Q Point Averages / OPR's / etc. across the board this year, and it can be either good or bad...Depending on your team's specific situation.

Under the new format this year (everything up until the Final 3 matches is all Points Avg. Based, then best 2/3). Many Regionals conducted so far have had (between 8 and 12 Q Matches per team
after comparing ranking sheets), so Q Point Avg's. are better or worse for each team depending of course, on how they personally performed individually, and amongst their own competition field only.

We had 12 Q Matches, so comparing the field from this Regional to another (this year), cannot actually reliably be done w/ any real certainty, if paying strict attention to the Q Avg. Scores (we completed 20% more Q Matches than some others having 10, much higher for those having only 8 -33% higher).

There are Regionals w/ even less. Ck. Dallas (Week 1), rankings for comparison. (Though they had a weather related issue on Friday as I remember, so did they just truncate & drop the last set of Q Matches Saturday morning? It appears so looking at the Q Schedule results, but they only completed 10 each).
_____________________________
Then ck. Virgina (Week 4 -8 Q Matches), and AZ E. Phx (Week 4 -12Q). 1/3rd or 33% more Q matches? (That's 33% more chances to shine / or, to screw up!) So, it all does not necessarily come out in the wash. (The Playoff Point Avg's. can be compared w/ fair certainty). There are fewer playoff matches though 7~8 max. (2+3+2~3) vs. 9 possible.

Q Point Avg. disparity is very evident between Regional/District competitions, and not all is due to the actual robots/teams building/operating them (it's a basic math issue also). It was before, now I know exactly why.

Go look; http://frc-events.usfirst.org/ Click on a few regionals, and click Rankings, look @ the rt column for total Q Matches played.

Anyone know if later published OPR results actually compensates in any way for that wide disparity? (If that is possible....How exactly is it done?)
_________________________
I realize comparisons across the board, are somewhat foolish in a way (as "competitions are what they are," just a snapshot in time & place & circumstances...w/ real life rewarded accomplishments or bloody toe-stubs attached,...(Nobody possibly fails if they actually play!). But, we all do them (Comparisons). Especially in FIRST!

Personally it helped our team a lil' bit, as we scored our highest Q Match score in Q79 our 12th (Q High of 155), and 76 in our 11th (1 Way up above & 1 Below our final avg.). There is enough disparity between Avg. Q Scores, and actual Playoff Scores, as is when you can somewhat attempt to design/pick your own alliance (within reason, LOL).

Maybe it has always been like this, and I just never noticed it? (But, the change from Win/Loss/Tie format, to Q Avg's. format for seeding, certainly changes things when comparing 1 competitors regional/district rankings results, to anothers, FRC wide).

You did an amazing job...Congrats! (All involved did). Enjoy the spoils of your Victory. (Time management / smooth driving / game strategy / and robot design, is everything in this game). Almost more elements than actual game pcs....LOL! (Add a slight dash of luck too as usual, with lots of angle of the dangle, and raised scoring platforms meet round wheels, and slightly offline robots). Too many other possibilities to even list.

It was exciting though to watch you 6 masters work today! (The gentleman is right..."It is WORK," EH?)
________________________________________
The points average improvement (from Q to Playoffs), is amazingly outrageous. That was my comparison math project, attempting to break it down a bit further...Then I realized the above post comparing Region to Region results.

I already knew there were more 1, 2, & 5 Seeded Alliances carrying home Winner Banners this year weeks 1-3 (1 & 2 are usual...5's not so much), and a bunch of high teen Q'd teams actually sitting out of the playoffs).

It was amazing working with that alliance in one of our seeding matches! az was a blast! quality of the robots hasn't been too good this year but we did have a deadly combination of teams that showed in the finals!

Re: 2015 Arizona East Regional

I was totally surprised by our winning the event. The drive team just got better and better, so much so that I had to make a graph of our scores throughout the event:

Re: 2015 Arizona East Regional

That was a great regional! Definitely a very exciting and evenly matched finals. 1212 is competing in the West Regional so we look forward to seeing some of you there as well.

On another note, if anyone is in the area, we're looking for teams that might be able to loan us some totes and rc's or other field elements to practice with in the next couple weeks. So if you're done competing we would appreciate the help and we could pick them up and return them after a couple weeks.

Also, for those of you also competing at the Arizona West or even other regionals, we'd be happy to host a practice session with you at Seton Catholic High School. We have a good portion of the field setup, we're just missing some totes and rc's and one of the scoring platforms, which we might just make. So if you don't have adequate space or just want to practice with another team, email me at cgillette15@setoncatholic.org or pm me and we can set something up. We're meeting most days after school in the next couple weeks from around 3-6 and all day during the weekends, which would probably be better.

I thought it was a 20lbs allowance and 30 was just cause of last years snow storms

If my memory serves me correctly, the witholding allowance was 45lbs in 2014 due to the snow storms.
