Re: Bayou Regional 2015

Barring a disappointment due to a misunderstanding, it was a great regional! Great to see so many great teams at the regional.

Allen,
not sure why you need a noodle blocker.
A box on wheels can do the same thing.

They only deployed the noodle blocker once in the semis (?second round?); Robin got at least one noodle over it, and they pulled it the next match.

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

I would like to extend a huge thanks to 456 for picking us at the #8 seed. They saw potential in us and we came extremely close at the end. Also, Tempest 1927 came out as one of the best 2nd picks, making stacks for us to cap after we made our first 6.

3937, 3039, and 3946, y'all's litter was crazy. You were also very consistent in making 4 stacks each round. Congrats to you guys.. one of the defending Bayou champs had to come out on top.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who makes Bayou possible. This was my last regional as a driver, as this is my senior year. Bayou has been one of the best experiences of my life (behind worlds in St. Louis).

Congrats to 3337 for Chairman's and 1477 for EI. Both of those teams definately earned it. Hope you guys have fun at worlds!

A big thanks to 3937 (Breakaway) and 3039 (Wildcat Robotics) for trusting scouting over ranking, and inviting us into alliance! We'll see y'all in St Louis!

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

1912 would like to thank Teams 34 and 2080 for inviting us to join their alliance. It was an amazing run to the semifinals, and we found the best ways to leverage our strengths. We couldn't quite make that final stack of 6, but every robot was playing at its best throughout elims. Go Fiery Tornado Rockets!
To both alliances who advanced to the finals, we were happy to cheer you on, 2 absolutely thrilling matches with not much to separate the winners from the finalists. Good luck at Worlds, especially to our hometown neighbors 3946!
HUGE congratulations to Team 3337 for their RCA win!! You definitely deserved it, wonderfully produced video. Your team has done so much in the region, it's hard to believe this is only your first RCA. I can't wait to see your team build on this win in the coming years.
Also, congrats to the 2 Dean's List Finalists, Danielle Massey (3337 - this really is an exceptional role-model team) and Ben Rowley, who extends 1912's DL streak at the Bayou Regional to 7 finalists. Best of luck as you progress to CMP!
On more of a personal note, thank you to the Bayou Regional Planning Committee, BLaST and the wonderful volunteers (among whom were this year's Volunteer of the Year Daniel Eiland from 3337 and Woodie Flowers Finalist Chuck Dickerson from 456) for making this event possible. I can't imagine my FRC experience without Bayou. I've learned so much about teamwork, resilience, and Gracious Professionalism, and I'll always treasure the unforgettable memories from the past 4 years. I'm really going to miss this regional next year - but I will hopefully be coming back as a volunteer. Team members come and go, but Bayou never disappoints and always amazes.

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

Team 5416 TaRDIS had a great time at our first ever regional. We especially want to thank 4639 for being such great travel partners, 3847 and 1477 for all their support before and during Bayou, and the many many people who complimented our team name, shirts, and pit. Sorry we ran out of buttons! We also want to thank the coordinators for all their hard work and letting us help out - we had a blast. We also wanted to thank the safety advisors for all their advice and the judges for giving us Rookie All-Star. Congratulations to 3946, 3927, and 3039 for winning the finals; 1477 for Engineering Inspiration; and 3337 Panthrobotics for Chairman's (and trying to teach us how to dance)! See you in St. Louis!

Robin's a natural; only had about a week and a half of practice. She should be deadly with four more weeks to train!

We're also working on a few more "unique" capabilities, and improvements on our tote-flipper and double-stacker capabilities. We may not be able to keep up with the big stackers, but we'll keep working to fill in the gaps.

Thank you! Also a big thank you for the loaner body bag and tag for our robot! I didn't find out until the officers & mentors meeting Sunday that we borrowed yours.

On behalf of Team 34 we were glad to have you on our alliance. It was an amazing run for our team. 34 has undergone a complete overhaul during the past two years so a trip to the semifinals was a win for us. It was a pleasure to work with 1912 and 2080! We sqeezed every ounce of potential out of a simple robot built to the KISS method. I left the Bayou with another case of robot envy. So many innovative solutions.

The Bayou is the end of the road for us this season. There is talk of an off-season event in Huntsville, Alabama this fall. Perhaps we will meet again this year.
Best wishes to all teams with regionals and a championship ahead of them this year!

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

To all of the teams that attended the 2015 Bayou Regional:

I hope all of you have as good of a time at Bayou, that I had being your Master of Ceremonies. Year after year, you guys amaze me with your innovation and creativity. I truly believe that the Bayou is one of the best regionals that FRC offers. To the teams that traveled from far and wide to attend, thank you. Please know that you are always welcome to come back! We enjoy showing the southern hospitality from the local teams along with all of the volunteers that make this event what it is.

Next year will be the 10th year of the event. The planning committee is already giving thoughts on how and what can be done to celebrate.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

Hello everyone, I am still a bit at a loss for words over this particular regional. Needless to say congratulations to each and every person from each and every team that attended. I always love attending Bayou because everyone that is there has such a great heart for FIRST and constantly demonstrates why Gracious Professionalism is a way of life.

My team had a lot of fun dancing with you, cheering with you, and being a part of our great community. I will not relist all of the names and the teams that have already been congratulated - what I will say is that I never thought that we would be at the place to have to say thank you for so many things. I plan on posting something longer in a subsequent post. For now - I can't wait to see some of you at World and some of you at the Red Stick Rumble (Hint Hint Hint)

-Daniel

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

This was really a fun event, it is nice to be in a relaxing atmosphere which this certainly was. I always love the time I spend in the Big Easy and look forward to next year. Great job guy's, I am sure the rest of the team feels the same.

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

I would like to thank all the volunteers and companies that make the Bayou Regional possible. This was my sixth time at the Bayou, and I have enjoyed every single one of them. We come back year after year because of the well organized event and the great and smiling faces of the volunteers.

We would like to also thank our alliance partners 3039 and 3946. Our regional win was nothing short of a team effort. Taking the 10th place team and the 42nd place team may have shocked other people, but we knew from our scouting reports how great these teams really are. 3039 was a clone of our bot and without 3946 getting that RC off the step, we would have went out in the semis. We spent the entire day on Thursday (12 hours) upgrading and rewiring our entire robot and changing our strategy for the Bayou Regional. We knew we were going to have to raise our level of play in order to win this tough event. 456, 364 and 1927 were a powerhouse alliance in the finals. They were putting up five RCs while we were only capping four. The last match could have gone either way. That alliance was amazing and made some of the best regional finals matches I have ever seen. I would also like to send out a congrats to both 1477 and 3337 who will be heading to St. Louis in April. Your programs are amazing, and I have loved getting to see what you guys are doing and trying to emulate it in our program. Keep touching lives and inspiring our next generation.

We hope to join the Bayou Regional again next year to meet new teams and revisit with some old friends.

Re: Bayou Regional 2015

I want to echo Landonh12 comments, Team Fusion 364 had a great time at Bayou and wish all of the advancing teams the best of luck in St Louis. Also we are thankful of all of the sponsors and volunteers that make it happen.

I want to personally congratulate Chuck Dickerson on his Woodie Flowers Finalist Award, it was long overdue.

3937, 3039, and 3946; Simply Awesome Finals! I think it is safe to say that both of our alliances left our best effort on the field, congrats on a well deserved win!

I have to pass on what one parent told me, that was more exciting than any Saints game I have been too.
