What's up with the standing that are on first's website? Are the scores for qualifying rounds? are they for overall score? Just wondering because we were the # 5 seed and they have us listed at #3. Dunno

I like seeing all of the positive comments coming out of the St. Louis regional. It was a blast. I met a lot of new friends most of whose names I can not remember - part of getting older. Doing the field set up all day Friday aged me even a few more years - boy was I glad to see the extra help on saturday. If I find some pics of different robots in our stuff I will try to send them on. I saw some incredible machines but most important I saw and met some fantastic students.

well i had fun at the st. louis regionals..but there was just one thing that really upset me. there was a team there that disrespected my whole team and was rude to us over and over again. however, i do know that it wasn't the whole team...but there were people there that were extremilly rude towards us even when we were in our pit minding our own business. we tried to be friendly to everyone..and we cheered a lot of the people on..including this team that keep being rude to us and disrespectful. however, we didn't let them get us down and we still were nice to them and cheered them on even when they put us down. i guess it's all in how you carry yourself and how much you respect not only your team but others as well. they will get what they have coming to them eventually but that's ok. i do not have any hatered or anger towards them because i know that they can't help who they are and it wasn't the whole team so you can't put the whole team down for what a few selected members of that team did.
other than that i had fun...there were teams there that were fun to be around and joined us in our craziness..*laughs* our dancing and screaming and in cheering people on...i can't wait to go to nationals

Regionals was awesome! Our robot did great and I am really proud of our team. Congratulations to everyone who won an award, and those who didn't, don't worry about it.

I wish I could have stayed in st louis because it was tight. I loved the city. the arch was fun too it was scary going up to the top.

I want to congratulate all the teams at SLR from Kansas. We are a rookie team from Paola, KS but we're going to Lone Star. Nonetheless, several members of are team made the trip to St. Louis (I so wanted to but Sub-State Basketball weekend). I have heard nothing but positive comments about the efforts of the team and they were especially impressed with the play of the Kansas teams. Go newton, osborne, axtell, central height, washington, and lawrence. We hope to represent the state as well as you all did in MO.

I'm from the Newton team, 935. We just wanted to give that same shout-out to all teams from Kansas and hope that we are represented very well again and again. For those of you that don't know, Kansas teams had their first year last year. Up to that point, no Kansas teams existed in the FIRST program. Now our team is even thinking of putting on a regional in the near future. Again, thanks to all teams for such a great regional.

This was my first time at St. Louis and I thought it was great. My heart is still partial to the Midwest Regional though. Thanks for a great competition from all the teams. I never thought we'd be picking, things would have to fall in such a way for the 15th seed to pick. I still laugh about not having a list done for picking though, I'm glad our representative made good choices. Thanks to all our allies over the three day period and a special thanks to 650 and 755 for working with us. My one disappointment is not seeing #45's ball bot running about.

yep.... team 1104, Axtell TechnoEagles here.... i think the kansas teams really shook the place up.... we were a rookie team, and we were in the standings most of the day around 15th. didn't make it to finals, though. really wish we had, but, that's life. i think overall we had a good robot... it stacked, it went under the bar, and we could push ANYONE we went up against. we helped tons of other teams, heck, i programmed a couple other robots for people (remember the wilsonator? that was one of em lol) and ended up with the rookie allstar award on friday. i come from a town of 150 households, the ENTIRE highschool has about 70 students, max... i think the fact that we did so well really shook up our town, woke some people up. it doesn't take a lot of money or tons of brains to do something innovative and educational as competing in first robotics... just initiative and a little motivation. i'm headed to college after this year, but i plan to mentor axtell's team next year, if we manage to get NASA's grant. if we don't get it, there's no way we can do it... our school literally doesn't have the finances to buy books in the library, let alone come up with 10 grand to support a robotics team, but i think we should be able to get the grant. several people are interested in joining next year, and most of the students that went are bragging to other schools and all their friends... i think FIRST is starting a great thing, and the fact that it's getting around to small schools like axtell's is wonderful. if it wasn't for this competition, and nasa for the grant, none of us would've ever been able to have the contact with technology and engineering that we were able to experience building the robot, affectionately labeled the "NerdBot" due to peer criticizm... but i know jealousy when i see it anyways, thanks for everybody that helped our team out, and for any team that mentors a rookie team or takes the initiative to start a new team.... it's really a great opportunity for us (students) to get involved in something besides sports.

Kudos to all of the great teams in St. Louis... especially the awesome rookies.

The TechnoEagles (1104) were definitely impressive. We got a chance to partner with them and they are an amazing team.

Another extremely impressive team are the Ubergeeks. They not only have a robot that can dish it out with the best of 'em, but they also had the whole marketing thing down... they have the "look" of a seasoned vet FIRST team. Their uniforms were tight, their pit was organized, and their team was working as a group... they had the "U" flag, the "U" hats, and a good overall presence.

I was mostly impressed with the perseverence of team 1020, the Prank Monkeys from Ball State. This group was led in St. Louis by 1 teacher (full of heart but non-technical) and 1 freshman college student (amandabean). Sure, myself and some others helped them out... but to only give these monkeys some tips. They are self-supporting and very capable of competing in FIRST. I look forward to seeing them in Chicago when both of us will have more time to visit.

Lastly, I gotta say that team 171 was awesome. These guys who were 15th seed went on to lead the winning alliance. They were very patient with my team as we were pitted right next to them. We crowed their space most of the weekend and they never said boo. They have an awsome robot that simply wins matches. Look at their robot and team and you see an effort in reliability, robustness, and efficiency. Kudos to 171!
